    • Great materials and entourage!

I like my Sketchup models to look more realistic, so I'm constantly searching for good materials and trees, etc.--it gets me all excited--lol!I recently came across http://www.3drender.co.uk --nice high-resolution stuff, if anybody's interested. It looks like they're tailoring the plants and trees for Sketchup by making them png's.

      Good 2D people, too.

    • Sandbox crash

I'm having a Sandbox Tool problem when trying to contour small portions of grounda building.

My procedure is to draw various grids with the "From Scratch" tool, explode the grids, select, and use the "Smoove" tool. As soon as I use Smoove, the yellow cubes jump everywhere (on the building, etc.), and SU freezes and exits itself.

I really like this grass. Can you give a bit more information on the steps taken to make it?

This is the general idea. Is there a way to turn this into a material to apply to a wall?

Thanks, everybody--those are great, but i don't think they will work for what I need!

What if I drew a sample wall with 3D siding I constructed--could I somehow turn that into a material which I could apply in various projects?

Does anybody have any ideas to make realistic siding in Sketchup? There's one in materials which is O.K., but I'd like to find something more realistic.

    • RE: {TomasZ} SU2KT hangs with certain components

No error that I can remember, anyway. Just a window saying that "Sorry, Kerkythea has crashed". Then I got the blue screen on my computer and had to unplug it.

I will try to find a file-sharing site and send it to you.

      Sounds good!

Just to give you an update. I redrew the spindle balusters to make them far more simple and the export went fine. I opened the file in KT, added a spherical sky and it crashed both KT and my computer. It is a large file (76K MB--10,600 faces), but shouldn't it be able to handle this?

      Is the beta version bug-free?

In my model I have multiple copies of the balustrades--maybe 50 balusters in total. This might make a difference, even with the beta version?

    • RE: {TomasZ} SU2KT hangs with certain components

I have posted the question in the KT forum!

One of the balustrades I used is now gone from the Warehouse. here is one : http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=a39b91deafa0f1d77af66a4b34799d4f&prevstart=0

      Here is the spindle: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=44c318ad630074558e67c36af2e37131&prevstart=0

The export starts, then slows, then freezes. With the spindle attempt it was even worse-- it just freezes the export instantly and crashes SU.

There has to be a logical reason for this which I can correct!

KT version 3.05. OS is XP Pro.

      I mentioned the RAM because I don't think it's a memory issue.

    • RE: {TomasZ} SU2KT hangs with certain components

I just tried an export with the balusters selected out and it worked! But when I tried to export the balusters only, the export froze and crashed.

Any ideas on how to solve this? I would really like to use these components, but...

    • RE: {TomasZ} SU2KT hangs with certain components

      Sure!

I decided to re-construct the balustrades using a simpler spindle-type baluster, so I'll see if that works. But since I got the same results with two different balustrades, I have to assume that the problem has to do with all the meshes involved. Maybe that's not it, but I would like to solve the problem!

    • {TomasZ} SU2KT hangs with certain components

I have downloaded two different balustrades fro the 3D Warehouse and put them in two different models. When I try to export the model to Kerkythea, the export starts, but when it gets to the balustrades, it slows down and finally stops completely, most often ending the SU page and sending the file into AutoSave. There are a lot of meshes, but that shouldn't matter (I have 4GB RAM).

      Any idea what's happening?

    • RE: Explode problem

Well, I managed to explode the remaining pillars by exploding one, all went transparent, then exploding the next one--and all had faces again--and so on down the line.

I tried to export again, and it just zipped along until it reached a certain point--then it slowed to a crawl and finally crashed.

      I don't have a clue what's happening!

    • Two-point perspective tilt

Before I export to KT, I turn on the two-point perspective feature in SU to get rid of the three-point perspective tilt in default. But I just did a test render and the tilt is still there, even though it's in two-point!

      Any thoughts?
