By looking again at my options in Greek market, I found an Asus laptop with AMD R7-2700U processor, 12 GB - DDR4 RAM and AMD Radeon Vega 10 Graphics.
Do you see any problems with AMD?

I like AMD CPU's not so much their GPU's, I would avoid the Radeon as most render apps will require Cuda which may be a problem with AMD.

Just checked prices for GTX 1070 and they cost around half of my budget, so I need to look for cheaper alternatives 😄

What rendering software will you be using? is it GPU based?

To get a decent 3D machine on that budget may be difficult, firstly you will need a machine with a dedicated GPU, a GTX 1070 or better, 16GB ram an SSD drive and possibly either a 2nd SSD or an external HDD. What about screen size? are 15 inches enough?

Why a laptop? If you want the best bang for the buck, I'd go for a customized desktop.

That looks fake to me too, in fact I commented about it in another thread where he advertised his open thread: https://forums.sketchup.com/t/an-open-letter-to-trimble/87510/21?u=solo

It seems as thought the SketchUp team members have all quit responding and / or commenting on anything related (except some apparent issues some people may be having with licencing and / or other bugs / usage queries) to the SU2019 release gripes everybody is having.

Waiting for the storm to pass... Curious.

Like they do with every lackluster release, they wait it out, people forget fast. Frankly, I do not think they give a shit what we think, they just do not like us expressing our thoughts on their forum it seems.

    • MSPhysics help please

Hey guys, I need assistance, this is probably a simple solution that is evading me.

I need to create an animation of a person in a chair connected to a spinning loop, the person needs to stay upright as the loop spins, anyone got some guidance?

    • RE: Importing 3d model

I can confirm that the textures are NOT included in the download, you need to find one and add it yourself.
I did a quick search and found something similar.

      ella-Scene 1.png

      I used this:

Here is the model if you need it:

      Ella bt Edra.skp

You will need a render engine for the glass to show, I used Thea 1.5 for this render.

      SU2019 does not create a autosave-file anywhere.

I guess it helps with speed and stability, I always disable autosave anyway, got into a habit of saving before running any plugins.

On a technical note, this would have been more appropriate in the Ideas Box and Board Issues subforum. Rich would probably notice it faster and everyone can still add their thoughts on it.

Done, moved topic and a huge +! from me

Just a thought bubble, might it be a good idea for the Sketchucation executives to consider creating a new forum in sketchucation specialising in transitioning from Sketchup to Blender? This may reinvigorate Sketchucation which has taken a beating since Trimble took over Sketchup. And would be a great help for people transitioning or simply for Skethup users to use the qualities of both programs. It would certainly work for me. Anyway like I said just a though bubble.

Rich O'Brien is fluent in Blender, he'd be a good tutor as he comes from SU and understands the issues most SU users have in Blender, I vote he starts the revolution, even I will join.

Hats off and a huge thanks to the plugin authors, they have been keeping SU alive the last few years You know they are listening as a few new importers and poly reducers are on the horizon, too bad we need such tools due to SU's poly limitations.
