You are probably right. But I only trace buildings that I have to refurbish/convert, and I always double check measurements on site. The only other scenario I can think of for tracing buildings is for archviz, where that accuracy doesn't seem needed to me.

All my other buildings are modelled directly in sketchup.

An advice I'd give you if you want to really use CAD imports is to group it and trace over the group with the rectangle tool. That will assure the orthogonal results which sketchup needs

for evaluating if the issue is caused by a faulty OpenGL support of the used graphics card driver, disable in SU v2016 "Window > Preferences > OpenGL > Use Hardware Acceleration", close/launch SU and print again.

If everything fine than the graphics card driver is causing the issue. If the recent driver version doesn't fix the problem, swapping to a recent GeForce GTX 1050Ti/1060 (or better) might be opportune.

As for the Create Component window opening you you can give it a name and set the axes and gluing attribute, that does happen in SU2017. The alternative to get that window in earlier versions is to explode the group and then immediately make a component.

Fitst of apology for the late reply, I managed to get it working by myself eventually. For some reason it started working after a few reboots. Which is strange, because why so sudden? The Main Sketch-Up help page opens in Google Chrome when I press F1. I also want to say that, when I had the problem there wasn't any case of the cursor not being in the active Sketch-Up window. I was'active in the Sketch-Up apllication, yet hitting shortcuts didnt work. Luckily it works fine now. This thread can be closed if you ask me 😄
