Sigh. Where is Alan Fraser? He will tell you a thing or two about speeding up your models. He knows because he's a tree man, and when you dump about two dozen of his Comps into a scene you'll feel that need for multi-core real bad. Unless of course you apply some out-of-the-box thinking.
But why should we when there is technology available

One of SketchUp's lead developers, John Bacus, has actually asked users at Basecamp exactly what this means. High poly support when orbiting, when modeling, with or without inference.
You see everybody whining about this feature but no one comes with any specifics and when they are asked for them no one replies. So by all means, SPECIFY what you mean with high poly support.
My models tend to be large ones, models of residential developments with trees, shrubs cars etc etc. when it takes about 1 minute or so to orbit or zoom in or out and the screen freezers up, and i have my boss or a client looking at the screen its more than frustrating. its time this was sorted or at least commented on by someone from sketchup i think they owe us a reasonable responce.
I think to all the Sketchup team that read these posts we muct all sound like spoilt little children and a little ungrateful. Yes there has been some nice changes in the latest release but it is very difficult to not feel a little deflated by the current release.
To me reading through the posts the general public and customers are very disapointed, with the extended Sketchup family of beta testers defending the release which is what we would expect. In my view nearing two years since the last release we were all expecting big things, maybe expectations were over hyped.
I think what everyone wanted more than anything was better handling of large scale models, and it would appear that this has not changed much at all really.
I think it would be good if google could perhaps give us there views on this:
Can it be done ?
Are they looking into it or is it impossible with the current code ?
Do they have any timescales ?
Anything really just some feedback on 'the holy grail' of sketchup please, the silence of sketchup is increasing peoples frustration on what is the biggest issue with the product. I think if we had some answers even if they were bad news it would put peoples minds at ease a little.
This release feels like an episode of Lost, you are all excited at the start of it for what will happen and come the end you are left confused and asking many questions.
Remember google there is a saying that 'the customer always knows best'

Darren
Peace and love, peace and love but dont send me no mail i am to busy, i have my drumming lessons Monday's and Wednesday's but dont forgot peace and love.
I remember seeing him on a chat show about 12 months back and after listening him for a few minutes the guy came across as a total jerk, really arrogant and what seemed like a huge chip on his shoulder. The guy needs to take a long hard look at his self in the mirror and realise he got lucky in life.
Maybe we should put out a web cast telling him to stop releasing dire, dire music. Peace ands love, peace and love
Works fine on my laptop with XP 64 bit
Hi All,
Dont know if anybody has seen this new sat nav system http://www.ndriveweb.com/products/product/33/ it uses photo mapping, they say the first of its kind.
Does anybody know what photo mapping software they are using I believe it may be a Swedish company and i think the British Army may use it to.
Great models here buddy and thanks for sharing i am sure they will prove to be useful for me and many others
