Can someone please give me some advice on what is the best method for rendering water in vray.
I have tried using a noise displacement, as suggested in this tutorial:

But the water just looks like a reflective grey fuss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if you can render a section plane in sketchup? When I rendered my model with section plane it just rendered the model as normal from that angle.

Hi, I have attached my latest render, a print screen of wat the shadows look like on screen in SU, and the environment settings for both the GI skylight and the background. I hope this is helpful, thanks for all the help.

I am using sketchup 7 with the latest vray plugin (SR1.5 I think). I have gone into the environment and in GI sky and backgroung clicked on the M and gone in and updated them, but my shadows still do not show. I have then gone in and checked the box that says override suns parameters but this doesnt work either. The sunlight source is set to default but there is nothing else that I can set this to.

Sorry if im being a bit stupid.

I am using vray and sketchup, on screen in sketchup I can see the shadows but when I render it you cant see them, anyone know why?

I am using sketchup and vray, on screen in sketchup the shadows are showing but when I render it with vray it doesn't show the shadows. Can anyone help?

This is a shot of my first render using sketchup 7 and vray for sketcup. It sort of looks alright but I am hoping to make it better, all comments and advise is welcome.

The things I am not happy with are:-

1, It renders very blue, I know this has something to do with the environment and lighting, but with all my fiddling I haven't been able to improve it.

2, The trees are 2d camera follow trees, but they don't look great and some of them look like they have been badly photoshoped in.

3, The materials look alright but not very realistic, especially the grass which looks very flat even though it is contoured.

Please comment on anything further that you think could be improved, apart from the design which isn't mine.
