Perhaps have a good go with D5 free and see if it suits you. If the vegetation is important then TM is probably not ideal - at the moment. It does have quixel megascans though.

RE: Running sketchup off external hard drive?
Which Macbook Pro do you have? If it's one of the older models you will be able to mirror & replace the drive, which would be the ideal scenario.
Here's a bit of info:

Excellent Pixero!
Bad news about the work though - hope you've still got thea/SU licenses?!

RE: Classic/perpetual licence option ending this year!
I've had the same response via a different channel to the OP.
The distributor's line was 'Sketchup is moving to a Subscription model...Perpetual licenses will become legacy'. The time frame is unknown but probably within the next 12 months.

Looking good so far but interested in pdf tuts. Not found any so far.
Yeah i haven't noticed much and the support seems a bit limited.
There is a youtube channel though which may be worth checking out?

RE: Twinmotion is now free
A little bit of background here...
Epic Games acquires Twinmotion viz tool for architects, then gives it away
Epic Games targets users of BIM software, especially Revit and ArchiCAD, with Unreal Engine-powered Twinmotion.

RE: Blender forum in sketchucation
+1 for a Blender sub forum
Chipp's done a great job with his tut's but i'd appreciate seeing more discussions regarding SU <-> Blender - 2.8 will no doubt draw more attention from SU users too.

Sketchup Pro Future?
As I am basing our company on a Sketchup Pro workflow, I am worried about its future and I would like to know if I am the only one with these concerns. Concerns: November passed and still no new version of sketchup, eโฆ

SU2019 in...2019
Surely it'll have to be SU2020 to be current?

RE: Converting from other formats
For Obj/Fbx I import to Blender and export as DAE.
The 3DS version should import into SU though?

RE: HELP, PANIC on new laptop!!

You'd struggle even with a top spec machine with with all the vegetation visible because there's so many faces ~1.9million.
Try to isolate the detailed elements so they are only visible when required or even better replace them with low poly components or 2D face me components from 3dwarehouse.
You can get nice 2D trees from Evermotion [Free] https://evermotion.org/shop/cat/423/free_products

Event - Digital Construction Week London
For info Digital Construction Week Exhibition is on in London 17/18 October.
At a glance it doesn't offer anything directly for SU but there's a Visualisaton Theatre for AR/VR and Lumion & Enscape are exhibiting. It's free to visit too.

RE: Texture pack post?
Maybe it was these textures; I noticed them posted somewhere around here recently...?

RE: Grass model
Some nice grasses at evermotion... but you're likely to want skatter for those too
