      Hello All,

I was wondering if there is a way to make sub groups within a Layer. I am thinking of this as a means to organize an interior building model. For example, each floor would be a layer, but inside that layer (floor) there would be rooms. And in the room (sub group) there may be furniture.

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks,
      Ryan

    • RE: Textures with Pyramids

Yes a mipmapping is similar to what I am looking at. But I want to be able to define the switching range of the mipmap. The human eye identifies differences at different distances, so I want to be able to identify the switch in that change. Openflight files have the ability to have different LODs, which user defined switch ranges. To my knowledge, SketchUp does not support LODs or switch ranges, therefore, I was thinking of using texture "mipmaps" as a means to accomplish part of this.

Glad I sparked your interest. I was hoping there would be a way to do this within a SketchUp model. It would be great to be able to have have levels of detail associated to the texture.

      Thanks again...

    • Textures with Pyramids

      Hello All,

I was wondering if SketchUp models can handle textures (.jpg, .tif) that have pyramids. In the geospatial world raster files commonly have pyramids built. The pyramids are used with distances, to help performance. I am wondering if there is a way to do the same in SU. So having a texture with different pyramids, which are represented to distance of viewing.

      Thanks...

Thank you SDMITCH. I sub-divided each of the contours into 10 metre segments and that solved the issue.

      Thanks...

Thanks for the help. I tried this, but when I Save As, each texture is a .skm. I was hoping to have the whole folder with X number of textures saved as a .skm, similar to the default Materials stored in SketchUp.

      Thanks,
      Ryan

    • Creating New Materials Group and Sharing with Others

      Hello,

This may be a dumb question, so excuse me in advance. Is there a way to save a new materials group and populate it with custom textures so that it can be shared? I would like to make a Materials group with my custom textures (ie: local brick patterns). I would also like to be able to provide this Material group to all my co-workers so that we have the same Materials when working on projects. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

      Thanks in advance...

    • RE: TIN from Contour Issue

Thank you for your replies. The cliff was purposely put in based on reality. The contour is not over top of the lower contour. The gully was a result of the contour, it does not make sense to me. There is an equal number of nodes in both the cliff contour and the upper contour.

    • TIN from Contour Issue

      Hi All,

I am making a terrain using the Sandbox plugin. I have make a DWG file representing my contours. When I run the TIN from Contours my area that is represented by a cliff has gullies in it. It appears that a contour line above the top of the cliff is getting priority and going straight to the waterline, rather than hitting the next contour. I have attached a screen grab. Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks in advance...
      Ryan

    • RE: Drapping Air Photos

Thanks Massimo. I have my area set up as a grid. The contours and the image are a perfect square and are the same size, so your description worked exactly as I was hoping.

      Thanks again.

    • RE: Drapping Air Photos

No that doesn't work. I have tried that before, but its been unsuccesful. A terrain in SU from Contours is a Group. I have not been able to apply a texture to a group. If you Explode the Group and apply a texture, the texture process will apply the texture to only on of the many faces. This process will not work. Does anyone know of any other means to drap a texture over a terrain created from contours?

    • Drapping Air Photos

      Hello All,

I have created a terrain file from DWG contours. I would like to be able to drap my air photos over the terrain. How can I complete this? Should I integrate the air photos from the start of the terrain process, or do I drape it after the terrain is created from the DWG CAD file?

      Thanks...

    • Select all Reversed Faces

      Hi All,

I was wondering if there is a way, or a script, that allows you to select all the reversed faces? I want to be able to select all the faces that are purple (reversed).

      Thanks.

    • Addict Tool?

      Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a addict tool. Other modeling packages have a tool that allow you do this. What I mean by this is, if you have a face on the ground (ie: 2m X 2m) and you have a face 3 metres above the face on the ground that is smaller (ie: 1m X 1m) the addict tool will allow you to select both faces and will generate a closed shape with the tapper from the large face on the ground to the smaller face 3 metre above the ground.

Any ideas, other than drawing all the faces individually.

      Thanks,
      Ryan

    • Google Warehouse Down?

I was wondering if anyone else is having issues loading models up to Google Warehouse? When I try, which I have done on different days with different models, the site crashes and shows that its not available.

      Any thoughts or ideas?
      Thanks,
      Ryan
