      i understand the wrapping but how does the "top" of the apple wrap at the the top of the mesh. If you open the map in PS you'll see a image skin in width and the top of the apple somewhere at the left

      It is all about good texturing . I've made a mini tutorial and shared it at previos page . it's name is "MIZ2" . please take a closer look at it. i guess it'd help you

      oke oke oke...
      you dont get it.... atleast i dont get it... i understand everytihing about making a map and so... but if you have your mesh and you apply your map. How do you get the top of the apple at the correct place and the side at the side. You need to apply a map to the mesh unwrap this with a different application and than put your mapping to that unwrapped image. but this is not written in the tut

      Thanks for all the comments.
      The lowest poly model here would be the T-34 with 290175 edges and 113783 faces. I was aiming at small file size which is only 2,8mb. The king tiger so far has 850214 edges and 338435 faces.
      It's not difficult to make these track links. Each link is quite simple in shape and than you just need to copy it along a path.
      I only use standard SU tools. Only plugins i have installed are Sketchyphysics and Kerkythea exporter. The only plugin i'd wish to use is subdivide&smooth by smustard.
      All these models are done by me just as a hobby. I'm not a military enthusiast, i was just learning sketchup and i couldn't find an interesting topic. I came across some tank model in the 3d warehouse and wanted to do a tank myself. Before i finished my first one i already knew that i'll be doing another one. I find some strange joy in these machines.
      If anyone wants to use these models for rendering, animations, texturing or anything they're in the 3d warehouse (all except KV1 and King Tiger). Just search for the tag "shareck".
      There is only one pic of Abrams in the first post so i'm posting some more below:

      [attachment=0:1ap85rzk]<!-- ia0 -->abram6.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1ap85rzk]

      how in gods name did you made those surfaces without any plugin... thats hardly undo able

      I cannot seem to locate it but I once remember talk about a 'Greeble' script, my thinking was that this too could be a solution.
      However Silver you certainly used SP in a very creative way.

      It's not well documemented, but protrude can offset, protrude, and taper faces. Leave the second column blank unless you want a random number btween the range.

      This model was produced using these inputs:

      Hope you like it πŸ˜„
      (I used a shitload of rubies to get the animation go smoother than the default SU output. Way too tedious)
      I gave you credit in the titles.

    • Weird cutouts after save

      im quite new to SU.
      I got this problem with a model. Ive got an ashtray with a logo on it.
      At first when i selected the model and let the logo interfere with the ashtray and than intersected some weird stuff happened. so i scaled the model to 8 times it normal size to get away from the blotches!! helped a bit. When i save the model after the saving i got these weird cutouts of the model 😎

      Could be Kerkythea with trees scaled very big lowered beneath the surface which gives the shadows. the shades also move over the subject

      It looks like he used tree models and scaled them really big. If you look really good you can see the HDRi true the branches. It think thats why he has this fantastic shade over his model? but im just a newby letting my imagination loose on it

    • RE: Roller Coaster Thrill Ride [For Solo]

      here i made an example... it wasnt motion but radial blur i used 10%. you can make a batch where you can deside how much the blur will be. will take a lot of time but i think the sequence will look a bit more realistic

      perhaps if you use depth of field in your render app you could get a bit of motion speed... in which app is this made? if the render app spits out seperate images you could also try and run it through a batch in photoshop with motion blur applied

      Thanx Jim...
      i had some other solutions but they give me different codes back.
      By know i found that thecodes are the same as on the powerpc-darwin OS.
      I think ineed to work on this part"elsif RUBY_PLATFORM == "powerpc-darwin" then"
      I think on my imac it passes this on cause i have intel duo core...
      So if you happen to know the code for this part
