    • Exclude objects from section cuts

      Hi All,

im doing a project where i need to make top view section cuts of a apartment complex. First of all im no newbie to SU and know all the basics and intermediar basics of SU. Problem is i havent worked with section cuts that much.

My question is about excluding certain objects of a section cut. I dont think it's possible as i cant find any thing about it. Perhaps one of you guys know some tricks.

I would like to still see the palm trees and some other models. My idea was to place them above the active section cut, but you get double geometry in the scene, which is already pretty heavy for SU

      See attached images as example

      Greetz,

    • RE: [Tutorial > Texturing] Texturing an arch - #2

im trying to do this trick on the side of this mesh i made, its a magazine. I did to pull trick of earlier but know when i try cant get the texture to follow the quads no more. if i tell it know to fit the quads it turns 90deg. the preview is how it was but when i apply this to a new model the trick doesn't work any more

*edit, just checked if i started from scratch again it actually does work. i copied the top part and than reconnected all pieces again by hand making the faces. When i than apply fit to quads i does work again

I give it up now. Now the plugin is working again. But now some leaves are again transparent and others not. I probably do not understand the workings of this plugin. I'll wait for an update. ๐Ÿ˜ข

      Charly

THat's due to the prob that 2 images arent transparent png's open these to in a image editor and make them transparent and than re-import them into SU

    • RE: [Plugin] Sketchup Ivy

I do have a couple of those installed as well. But I think it due to the sketchy physics, I installed this lately and before that it was always working. But I got it to work again after changes to lines of code (see tomasz's tips) there's one doneside on that. I hardly renders leaves know!? So I think I need to take a closer look now.
What's also weird is that io never got your version to work in iether su7 or 8, I would only work in su6.

how come for a lot of peeps the 0.6.3 versiion does work?
on the mac i doesnt do anything, no feedback no nothing?! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

      Hi Rombout,
Try this version, works for me on Mac OSX 10.6.7 and SU 8.
      Keys on Mac:
Click where you want the Ivy to start grow.
Cmd+Click : Make the ivy grow towards the mouse position.
      Alt+Click : Grow Ivy leafs.
      SHIFT+Click : Finish Ivy.
      Keyboard 'i' : Start over.

He this version wont work no more for me any more. I did how ever did some updates on some plugins so think i need to do a reload step by step and see which one it is

      Hi tomasz,

on the mac the popup window of ivy generator shows and than immediately hides again on the mac, su6 and 7
      Here's the code from SU7

    • Curved object or mesh

      Hi there,

i want to use SketchupPhysics with a curved object but SS keep looking at it as rectangle object. DO i need to assign a convexhull or is there a different trick to make the object respond better.
As you can see in the screengrab there are still gabs between the meshes

w ๐Ÿ˜ฎ w! superb images! how did you render the elevations in vfsu?

you choose an elevation in sketchup, no perspective..set up the shadows and make sure you got the new vray installed and render it using the default camera ๐Ÿ˜‰

could / would you share that link one more time, i want to have sneak peak at em ๐Ÿ’š
