Yes I did mean 4GB but it does not use all of it! Its terrible for sketchup, always locking up, freezing. I have tried different drivers, settings etc, with no luck, and so I use my sony vaio laptop that seems smoother and faster for modelling. As sketchup is single core application it only uses one 1.866MHz processor. 
Tried the cube model on Dell Xeon dual 1.866Mhz core 2 quad with 4MB (basically giving 8 processors) - firms rendering machine.
Graphics card Quadro 3450/4000 sdi 256MB
Original cube - 14.3 fps
Select faster transparency quality - 21.1 fps
Turn off transparency - 41.6 fps

I must admit I actually do agree with you both, my images could be better but you've got to start somewhere, 
.As I said it would be great if we could get people to produce some better images in the future.
Most of my images have been just about testing and trying it out the basics over the last six months, and helping others - Alot copied from the support section.
By the way it does render parallel projection, do you know if any of the others do?

Coen - Glad to see somebody else using it, and can see its awesome potential. Hopefully people will produce some great images in the future then hopefully I can remove my

As we all know Sketchup is a single core, non hyper threading application.
I have been giving it a go since last week, and I have only just read the whole article, including the bit about hyper threading.
You can set it up so that sketchup is permanently assigned to a paricular core from boot up (I put it in my startup folder), but the big thing is you change it on the fly when using a rendering program from within sketchup, or anything else or if you just want to balance you resources, across cores etc.
I have not tried it on VISTA, as I don't have a system running it.

Were these done with latest beta nxt version, as you can now add bump and the new materials editor has been hooked up. You could already the use the basic presets for plastic glass, metal etc?
