      Thanks Gidon,

Your tutorial makes it so clear. (I think Sketchup must be the absolute best device for graphic description of itself that I've ever seen!)

      BTW....Your tagline....
"If you don't know where you're going, you'll never get there"
Funny- I just got my new GPS 2 days ago πŸ˜†

Thanks for your kind reply Gaieus
πŸ˜„ You'd laugh if you saw how much time I've spent trying to recreate the situation. I didn't save the setup... just kept hammering away till I got something close.
I do believe the "off-plane" effect may come from editing the Bezier vertices. As long as the vertices are within bounds of the "work-panel" it seems okay.
But- I wonder why when I do go off the panel with a vetice, it only moves off plane a small amount, rather than infinite distance.
      I think I'm rambling now- a sign that I need a nap πŸ˜„

    • Curves not on plane

      Hey y'all,
I'm not a total newby to 3D, but I am on this forum. With SU 6, I've revived my attempts at more ambitious projects.
Here's one that has me frustrated: I'm wanting to use follow me to spin a curvy profile around a circle. I'm using Draw- Bezier tool. I created a vertical panel, pasted a jpg image to be traced, and used the bezier tool to make my curves, but when I view from the edge, I see the curves don't stay on plane! Naturally, I can't weld the curves to form a face.
I had partial success by using lines and arcs to do a test, but the bezier eludes me.
Any guidance on this would be appreciated.
Here's a link to the jpg image I referred to:

Actually the "walkstation" would be good for that.

OK- Walkstation for me, provided I get a harness and a good set of roller skates.

(Hmm- How about a scooter chair on that belt?)

I can imagine use of telescopic (magic) wands to extend our reach, maybe with something like laser pointers built-in.
May as well throw in the "driver seat" mounted on a device that can zoom the user in all directions. I think that would look cool. Something like the mechanic in Road Warrior. I'm thinking a lot of X, a lot of Y, and little Z.
I'm getting dizzy now- better quit.

I love how it says at the top of this forum "Do not discuss scripts in this forum" and everyone proceeds to discuss the scipt... even the mods. πŸ˜†

Ya got me curious (sorry about OT roaming)..
I don't see the text you refer to (at top of this page? of page one?) ?? ❓

    • RE: Starry sky background

I have an application called Slyglobe for Windows. It's an astronomy app, with many options for time, date and location of observer, etc. It can display object names, constellation lines, etc.
The starts are sharp points, so you may find this handy.
For your purpose, you would probably turn off all indicators to get a clean sky field.
(Hint: click on the top right icon at edge of screen)
I use FastStone capture to grab screenshots- never seen anything easier, and it's free, as is Skyglobe.

Hope this is helpful to you.

    • RE: Kerkythea Users Unite!

I downloaded KT, but I find my free SU excludes exporting the proper file types. I'm an old hobbiest restricted to freeware so I can't justify investing in the "Plus" versions of anything. (Of course, there's always the lottery!) So- if there is something out there like a workaround, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
I had an older homebrew computer that could run Blender and Yafray, but this "nicer PC" can't handle it.
It's all fun, either way- keeps me out of the pubs.

Okay- back to the barley pop.. πŸ˜•
