    • RE: [Plugin] Elev45Shadows.rb

      TIG, we quite often set correct Geo location for our models. It would be great if there was an option in this amazingly useful script to revert back to the previously set Geo location.

      I find it's easy enough to apply Elev45 temporarily to a select scene, and then revert the model back to the proper geo location, rather than fiddle with the importing files into a new SKP file etc. At the moment I manually type in the Geo location after letting Elev45 have its way with my model. A 'revert to previous geo location' button would be better. Is this possible to do?

    • RE: SU and Dual Monitors - Worth the Trouble?

      I'm running Windows7 Pro, my card is Quadro 600, 2 monitors. I can't seem to run more than 1 instance of SketchUp (8 Pro). If I attempt to run a second instance, the first one crashes every time. Has anyone come across this issue?

    • RE: [Plugin] Save Copy As Previous Version

      Thanks Jim, this should be very useful, except:

      1. I Save As.. -> choose Sketchup 7
      2. modify file
      3. File -> Save Previous
      4. Try to close, SketchUp asks me if I want to save before closing. (clearly not saving with Save Previous)

      What am I doing wrong?

    • RE: Revit to SketchUp [Rant]

      Anssi, exporting as polymesh gives you one exploded mesh, no groups, no components. With ACIS solids export, everything is nicely grouped.

      I find Fletch's Revit to SkethcUp via DWG workflow to be the best from what I've tried so far (thank you Fletch!). What I'm struggling to overcome is that all Revit walls import into SU as one of two layers, Walls Interior or Walls Exterior. We have different types of wall cladding used in a fairly intricate pattern, brickwork, diff. types of metal cladding, exotec etc. It is a big project and the idea of reapplying all the wall materials inside SketchUp is very painful (other building elements export fine and are managable).

      Anybody have any thoughts?

    • RE: Lock toolbars

      Until a couple of days ago installing a new script would mess up my toolbar locations, but at least I could re-arrange toolbars. Then I installed a couple of new ones, Extrusion Tools by TIG was one of them. And toolbars stopped sticking to where I wanted them to be! Really annoying!

      Strangely, the following from Halroach did help. Thanks!
      @unknownuser said:

      I have found a solution to the jumping toolbar problem!
      you must pack and cram each line of toolbars all the way to the end, until one of the toolbars get cropped, and then cram one more toolbar until one of the toolbars shifts to the next line automatically (sort of like an auto carriage return, or wordwrap). Now you can rearrange the toolbars on the third line, and they won't jump around! and you can replace the cropped toolbar from the second line to the third line too...

      PS This is not to say that TIG's Extrusion Tools was actually the culprit. I don't know what was.

    • RE: Why not use plugins?

      tfdesign, "just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not after you"

      If I don't use SketchUp for a little while I start forgetting shortcuts, workflows etc. But because of its simplicity it extremely easy to get back into it again. Using many plugins takes this away. I have many rubies installed but use regularly only a dozen maybe.

    • RE: Exporting large 2D bitmap image

      thomthom, Universal Document Converter is a very useful print driver that has saved my bottom a few times when SketchUp refused to export at very high resolution. UDC doesn't do AA which is no problem, Photosohop does it better than SketchUp anyway. I've exported 14000px wide using UDC for highres elevations at A1 size. It costs US$69. http://www.print-driver.com/
