Just some basic question.
I tried exporting a house and all I got was a yellow ball.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to explode every thing or turn it into a components or...

RE: Google Sketchup Pro 7 is out
I agree that dynamic components is a good addition but what else is new in SketchUp?
(I'm not talking Layout since I have absolutly no use of it.)
I havent seen any new features list yet so what else is new exept from minor UI changes?I'm not that shocked by the lack of bugfixes and core changes to SketchUp since I kind of expected it to be like this, but I am really sad that they havent listened to what we wanted.
Hi poly support.
Multi core.
Shadow bug fixed. -

Compare the jaw dropping amazement and excitement of the release of Tools on Surface, Subdivide and Smooth etc etc etc with Su7!!.....It's just embarrasing!
Well said.
After a first quick look I can't see all that much new. What HAVE they been doing all this time?
About the shadow bug still beeing there it IS a major thing. It means doing animations in Sketchup is NOT possible without an external renderer. I dont believe a professional software should be called professional with such a major bug not beeing fixed. Nuf said.
I'm kind of hoping some ruby gurus would start a opensource app project to be what SketchUp should have been.
We havent seen any feature list yet but things are so far NOT looking good. -
RE: Google Sketchup Pro 7 is out

RE: REQ : Equally spacing
I've made one called JS_Align.
Get it at my site: http://www.pixero.com -
RE: Far cry 2 map editor
Try the Crysis Sandbox 2 editor.
Its comes with the demo.
And I'm pretty sure the soon to be released new version will be even more easy to use. -
RE: Far cry 2 map editor
I too bought it in the hopes of import possibility.
I've also tested the demo of Crysis and the Sandbox 2 editor. Not as intuitive but very powerful.
Now I'm waiting for the release of the new Sandbox editor for Crysis Warhead. Hopfully just as easy to use as the Farcry one but more powerful and with import option. The realtime quality is awesome with moving water, trees and grass swaying in the wind and sound, and drivable cars and... and I would like to dream that SU 7 will be just as good.

RE: Coming Soon:Profile Builder

But why bothering, Pixero ?
Leave them aloneΒ‘
We have RUBYThats not enough.
I want changes to the core. Bug fixes and Open GL enhancements that cant be done with Ruby. -
Google, please tease us!
We are all thirsting for news about SU7.
I really dont understand the total silence from Google. Why?
These forums is crowded with current users and potential customers so I cant think of a better way of starting a buzz.
I think the best software companies is those who listen to their customers and also are having a dialog where they inform and answer questions.
If you can't/dont want to tell us anything substancial I think you could at least give us a tease something like:"Oh, its coming along just fine. You just wait a little while longer, it's almost ready. I know you won't be disappointed, *(specially if you work with heavy scenes).*We have some BIG surprises for you. The new version will be a real killer."
Come on...tease us!

RE: This would make me a happy man
High - Polygons not on the ground plane. Can be vertical.
Support - Isn't that what you need if you draw vertical polygons so they wont fall?Seriously, if they wont include better high polygon support in SU7 they must be reeeeeeeeaaaaalllllyyyyyy stupid.

This would make me a happy man
Hi poly support. (Has anyone said this before?);)
Better OpenGL.
Faster with at least some features available in games like: colored light, colored shadows, soft shadows, (indoor) lights, shaders (glass, metal, water and so on)
A interface to create/add user shaders
Better animation control Keyframe editor.
Better landscaping tools
Shadow bug fixed
and more... -

Hi Chris,
This is a known issue to our team and should be addressed in a future maintenance release. I'm not aware of any workaround, unfortunately.
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I find this post rather discouraging.
Not a: In the next release.
Just a distant future service release.
I guess SU7 is further into the future than we all hope.I can't understand why Google gives us nothing.
Just some brief overview of approx what and when to make us not lose all hope.
Google, we're starving!
I guess I'm not the only one to look into alternative softwares just because we dont get ANY info on when and what will be fixed in SU7.
End of hijack. -
RE: Your entire PC on a USB drive
@unknownuser said:
btw wasn't there a need to delete the thinstalled aplications after the trialperiod was over...?
Yes, but if you install on a virtualbox XP you "could" rewind it to its pre installed state and reinstall the thinstall demo again...
As for the SketchUp (or what ever software you want portable) you register it as usual. So they are not in demo mode. -
RE: Your entire PC on a USB drive
...or you could use ThinApp (theres a demo version) to make a portable version of SketchUp. Works like a charm.
I also used Virtualbox to setup a virtual "new" PC with a fresh intstall of XP. Then install ThinApp into it and run it and install SketchUp and add plugins, shortcuts and what ever settings you use and then finish up with ThinApp.
