I have a PC at work with 4 gb ram and a Quadro graphics card with 256 mb memory.
At home I have a PC with 4 gb ram and a Geforce graphics card with 512 mb memory.
Now at work I was only able to export a image at 3000 pixels wide approximatly but at home I could export the same scene at over 4000 pixels without problems.
Now to my question: I was under the impression that the amount of ram was what decided if SketchUp could export a image or not. Is the graphics card memory involved in this somehow also?

RE: PC crash - wish me luck
Suddenly it was working again and I recovered everything (and backupped everything important).
However yesterday I was about to copy some files I hadnt thought I needed and it was once again inaccessible.
I have tried several software to diagnose the disk and some cant access it and others can, and says nothings wrong with it.
Eventually I'm going to format the drive but it would be nice to have got everything I need off it first, so any help appreciated. -
RE: [Plugin] Scale and Rotate Multiple (UPDATED Dec 22, 09)
Big thanks.
After initial test I dont think I expressed what I wanted very well. Could be that english is not my native language or that I was tired.
Anyway. What I would like is another option: the center of each components bounding box at the bounding box min (in Z).
Many Groups or components dont have the axis at the center (if you're lazy like me)
So that option would also be great. -
RE: Req: Scale group of items around each center
Big thanks. Will test it now.

RE: Req: Scale group of items around each center
Wow, thanks in advance.
Would it be difficult to add a choice for random scale with a min and max value as well?
(As in: Scale randomly between 85% and 115%.)
And if I could dream a choice for random rotation around z axis... -
RE: Req: Scale group of items around each center
No that is not what I want.
I have several different components that I want to scale based on each components center.
In other words, rescaling but keeping their individual placement. -
Req: Scale group of items around each center
Im having some trouble with scaling a bunch of components (trees).
It scales around the total selections center which results in the placement "beeing scaled" as well.
Is there a way of scaling based on each selected components center? -
RE: PC crash - wish me luck
Update:
After trying several file rescue software I only was able to save some jpgs and pdfs. Some wasnt even able to find the drive and others crashed halfway through.
Last night when I went to bed with yet another software running overnight I felt kind of sad. This morning (It's my birthday by the way) I went to see how it had gone and found this app too has crashed.
I restarted my PC again and was about to install a cd burning app from a USB drive I have to try the Linux Live CD way mentioned above when I realised the PC showed the size of my "crashed" disk. I clicked the icon and it showed all my files was there!!!!!
Magic or Divine interception? I'm now copying all my files as fast as I can and I'm NOT turning the PC off until I'm done.
Talk about birthday present. -

sorry to hear that. Why don't you try a linux live cd like ubuntu to recover the files?
Could you explain more how to do it? I've never used Linux before. I'm now trying a software called Recover my files. I'll wait and see how it performs first.

PC crash - wish me luck
My PC with Vista crashed yesterday and I can't access the HD. I've bought a new HD and reinstalled Vista. Now hoping to find some good software to access the files on the drive to save what can be saved. Wish me luck.

RE: Driving Dimensions
Is anyone able to use it on groups/components or inside a group/component?
(I almost never have ungrouped parts in my models.) -
RE: Sketch up and mental ray
Neoshed, what about the title of the thread?
Have you found a way of using Mental ray in SketchUp or are you rendering in Max or Maya? -
RE: [Plugin] Smoothstep Animation
I still thinks my idea in my post on page one in this thread is both doable and would be the best way of using keyframes and inbetweens in SketchUps current animation implementation. That way you could go back to only the keyframes if you want to edit the animation and still get a scene per frame for rendering the animation.

RE: [Plugin] Color by Z (Updated August 27th, 2009)
The script idea I played with was to apply different colors based on slope and the side projected gradient doesnt work for that.
Texturing is another area in SU we could wish for improvements in. -
RE: [Plugin] Color by Z (Updated August 27th, 2009)
I still don't get a smooth gradient.

RE: [Plugin] Color by Z (Updated August 27th, 2009)
I've experimented with something similar in the past but gave up because I didnt find a way of getting a smooth gradient. Colors are applied to every polygon and not the UV values. Also it resulted in a "LOT" of color swatches in the material browser. Is there a way of applying colors but not having them added to the materials? And is there a way of using the UV values to get a smooth gradient?

RE: Bonzai 3D First Impressions
I tried to do the update but it stopped with some kind of "Update failed" message.
I'm on Vista by the way. -
RE: Not SketchUp but pretty proud of this...
First I think the sky works with the lighting. The original photo has a lone cloud that look odd so the new is better and a bit warmer.
About the cropping of the image it looks like it need more at the bottom. With the perspektive of the house it just doesnt look right the way it is. The trees look very 3d to me. I dont know if they are but I think that if you should add trees you should use photographic trees that looks more real.
Finally, what is this? Is it the customers factory? And why have trees in the image if they are not there in reality?
A final thought, I think the image could need some kind of focuspoint and live item. Maybe a bird flying by or people having lunchbreak or something... -

RE: How to get a pixel value from an image file?
I'm interested in this too. The only script I can think of right now is one that Didier Bur made to make displacement from a greyscale map. Maybe you can find something there?
