Can anyone give me some pointers on how to use cad lines in SU. I have a site plan and I would like to create faces from it so I can easily use the push/pull tool to create curbs, streets, sidewalks, etc... Everytime I try to create faces I get the error that the lines are not coplanar or that the lines do not form a closed loop.

RE: Layers and Materials Folders
@unknownuser said:
"I don't necessarily have the time or inclination to try and remove 9 of the 10 identical greys, etc. I would just rather be able to put them in a folder and not have them in the main selection window."
I agree that it would be nice to group layers and materials like you can in photoshop as you said. One other thing that I think would be a great suggestion is if there was a way to merge identical materials or delete one and paint with another rather then only having the option to use the default material when deleting one.

Which way did you draw the diagonal and which line did you redraw? I tried drawing a diagonal and it only closes one half of the face.

RE: RE: photoshop_workflow
All depends on the look your going for. I have done several plans in photoshop. of different styles. I have made some with a watercolor look to them or colord pecil look or even similar to the one you posted. Unfortunatly the only ones I have done are for work so I am unable to post them for you to view. There are countless ways to go about it but I would suggest playing around with the different filters photoshop offers first.

Kerkythea, Podium or Paranesi
My company, an architecture firm is looking into using either kerkythea, podium or paranesi as a standard for renderings. I have only used kerkythea once before and never used podium or paranesi. Which one do you guys think is better and why?

RE: 2500 members !!
I'm assuming Coen is one of the creators and I'm sure there are others. I am new to this group as of a month or so ago but you guys are doing a great job. So far the questions I have posted have been answered promply and kindly unlike many of the other forums I have been to. And I have learned a great deal just from reading past posts.
Great job guys!!
Keep up the good workJeff

RE: Elevations
Using the "align view" worked but now I have another problem. It wont let me scale my image in the print dialog box. This only happens when I "align view"

Elevations
I have a model of a curved building. at one end it starts with a true N,S,E,W orientation, as I get to the other end of the building it is at an angle of aporximatly 25 degrees. I am trying to get several elevation views using the preset buttons. I changed my North angle but when I click on the preset elevation buttons it gives me the original orientation. I thought that by changing my North angle these presets would change equally. Is there another way to do this or am I missing a step.
Thanks

Position texture
Is there a way to reposition a texture on a curved surface? I know how to do it on a flat surface but I cant even get the diolog box to come up when the surface is curved.
Thanks

RE: Help
Lapx
This thread was what got me started using rubys. I use the weld ruby all the time now. I did use the follow me tool to create the tubes. I also started useing the sandbox from contours tool to create the wall infills which saved me a LOT of time. I still consider myself a newby. But I think my skills are increasing rapidly mostly due to this forum. I did finish the model and it turned out great. Someday when I get time I will post it.Thanks for your coments

Disapearing geometry
Forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered. I have a rather large model (10MB) When I orbit around some of my geometry disapears, but reapears as soon as I'm done orbiting. It is always the same objects. Is this due to a setting or is it due to my graphics card. (I have Radeon x300, Pentium 4 3.4GHz)
Thanks
