RE: Identify like components
Thanks! These are all good ideas however I'm not sure how easy these will be. THis person did not name any of the components so identifying them in the outliner and component window I fear will be a bit difficult. Remus I think your idea might work best but I will give them all a try and see which one works best

RE: Identify like components
Yes it tells me how many but I would like to know where they are so I can determin if the others should remain the same or if they can all be changed. As I said this model was started by someone with limited experience so his modeling technique was not up to par. For example this model has x amount of windows the same size but for some reason several of them are different components. Therefore when I go to edit them I'm not quite sure which one will cange along with the one that I am editing.

Identify like components
Is there a way to identify other like components? I have once again inherited someone elses model who is no longer with our company. When this model was built he had limited SU experience. I am trying to make some updates but before I edit a component I would like to know if I need to make it unique or not. I'm guessing there is an easy way of doing this I'm just not sure how.

RE: Curved Roof Slabs Concept via the FFD plugin
Thanks
I couldn't find it in my searches because I didn't realize it started with "sketchy"

RE: [REQ] Seamless stone texture...
Bubbalove
I have run into this problem before and found the best stone pattern to start with is one native to SU. The reason being is someone has already taken the time to tile it properly which is where the difficulty in a pattern like this lies, as you have found out. I bring that into photoshop and alter it to my desire. Just a little trick I use if that helps you at all.

I always have the same issue with Kerky not opening that way and I'm still on XP so I'm not sure what the problem is.

RE: Need some c&c
Nive renderings But I do have one comment. The second image I feel the shadow is too dark. Although this may be an accurate representation of the shadows I feel it is taking away from your work. Try to find a different sun angle to (show off) your work instead of (hiding) it.
Just my opinion.

RE: Sort SubComponent List?
It would also be nice to be able to do the same with layers.

RE: Reducing Sketchup file size.
I have also found that when I import CAD lines my file size increases quite a bit. So what I do is import them into a new SU file, erase any uwanted lines and flaten to one layer. I then copy it into the SU file I need it in to model. I only use the cad lines as a reference then delete that layer when finished. Others in my office just bring in the cad lines Layers and all an model from those and it creates a huge mess along with making the file size huge.

Moving camera
I know this question has been asked before but I'm having trouble finding the answer. I have a model with about 30 scenes in it. I had to move my model and now the scenes do not align. Has anyone come up with a plugin to move the scenes equally with the model?

RE: My second rendering...
fymoro
I Think you have done a great job on this image, very realistic looking.
I do agree that the tile on the far side need to be aligned and after hearing that comment I noticed that the tile on the near side is (slightly) misaligned as well. I agree that changing the field of view is an important thing but in this image the first thing I noticed is that the field of view is off a bit. To me, it looks as if the columns are leaning outward. I usually use a setting of 35. One last comment is that the trumpet appears to be floating just a bit. I think it would actually rest on three points, (for lack of better terms since I know nothing about musical instraments) I think the mouth piece would rest on the ground as well.
Other then that, GREAT work!!

RE: Drape tool
Wo3Dan
Thanks for taking a look. after spending about 2hrs looking at this and using different variations of the strayline plugin I was able to find a line that for all intentions apeared to be connected, but after messing around with it I was able to get it to close. I'm not sure if this is the same line you are refering to but it is now working for me. What I find odd is that what I was draping was a closed plane, why is it that after draping it became open?

Drape tool
I am having some difficulty with the drape tool. I have created a site with the countours and am now in the process of draping streets, sidewalks, parking etc onto the contours. I have made several attempts at draping a parkinglot onto it but it is not forming a closed loop for painting another color. The lines I'm draping do create a closed palne but after draping it is no longer closed. I have attaced the model. Could someone have a look and see if I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks in advance

RE: Shadows
Chris
After thinking about it I remembered that I was at one point having difficulties with my monitor on my desktop so I did plug it into my laptop to see if it was the computer or monitor, but it was only to check the monitor. I didn't use any programs at that time. That being said I have now plugged in another monitor to the laptop to see if the dialog box is off the single screen but I still an unable to locate it.Gaieus
I am already using the highest resolution so that idea will not work.
