when i said colour blind i really meant 'fondness for dull tones' rather than the proper 'cant tell red from green' thing.

oh, well now i have revealed my secret...

      don't i feel foolish.

Looking at this again after a brief interlude i think im going to change the position of the sun, and get less building in the frame, it looks weird at the moment.

good call man, defo something to look at.
i use that tip from the "making of machlud haul" (andy collis) (yes i went back and checked all that, i don't have the memory of a thing that has a good memory) tutorial where you flip the image in photoshop to get a different perspective on the composition.

      still loving it though remus.

not had a chance to render yet.

496 in total, bit mechanical looking but what the hell.

it's difficult to help really until there is a set plan of what is happening.

pulled this off of 3d warehouse as a little test.

      it's about 1.5 mins ish.

yeah it's ok, i've been running some render tests and it's crunching them quite well, for a clear indigo render of a clay model you're looking at about 2mins to acceptable.

would be good to really test it out at some point though, i'm working on a uni project at the moment,
i reckon it shall test the capabilities quite well, give it a week or so and i should be at render stage.

    • RE: Time to show off

if i could use a mouse as well as hendrix could play guitar, i's be happy!

the mouse i have is cool, if youre right handed, there are some buttons conveniently placed where your right thumb would be, i keep hitting them with my little finger, most annoying!

i've always had a combination of windows and mac, but i decided with my new one i could get more for my money with windows.

      the current spec list is:

      intel core i5,
      4gb ram
      two nvidia geforce GTS250 cards
and three 20" monitors (i got cheaper ones and saved a bundle)

it was custom built by my friend, and all in (including peripherals) we're looking at about £1200.
it more than suits my needs at the moment, though i do hear you can overclock the i5's quite a bit which i may look into!

      why thank you solo!
yeah i am, i'm still in the market for a decent left-handed mouse, they're mega bucks though.
for the time being i'm just using a right-handed one, i don't even change the button settings i'm that lazy!

      bet you're a righty aren't you solo...

    • RE: Unicorns galloping from star to star

I felt gay for wanting to see the unicorns on this thread.
I felt disappointment at the lack of unicorns.
I felt jealousy at the sight of the lovely renders.
I felt joy at Remus' montage.

This thread as been a plethora of emotions for me stinkie, and for that I thank you.

    • Can't remember if ruby exists...

ahh, my fellow friends in sketchup, how are we?

i was thinking earlier about a ruby i remember seeing, whereby you took a face, or an object and moved/scaled it, and then by clicking again on the original face/object it would replicate the transformation.

i realise that the grow plugin performs this operation perfectly well, but the little difference this plugin had was that you could chose to click on the newly created face/object and it would perform the operation to that particular item, thus creating a non repeating copy (i realise that makes no sense at all)

am i drunk or does this exist?

i don't particularly need it, i just need to know i'm not going crazy...

any help shall be rewarded with a firm handshake (via e-mail) and a pint of your choice (via western union or paypal)

      thanks in anticipation

+1 for the tutorial, i've been trying to learn how to do this for ages, so i can model my beetle, but i'm exceptionally pony at it.

    • Hi there!

      hey there guys!

i've been away from here for aaaaages, on account of not having a computer and whatnot.

      how is everyone?
the site looks as busy as ever, i've really missed it i must say.
i'm looking forward to seeing what i have missed out on since i have been gone.

only been back a few hours and i'm already having trouble...

i need to download all of my old rubies again, i remember there being a ruby index, but i can't for the life of me find it! and help pointing me in the right direction would be awesome.

i'm really looking forward to getting back into sketchup again, it has been an unexpected hiatus, and i have missed it dearly!

shall be fun catching up with you all again, and seeing what masterpieces you have all created!

      regards
