About yourself: I discovered SketchUp version 5 at uni, at first i hated everything about it, it just seemed too simple. then i realised that was the beauty of it!
Hobbies: i'm a scout leader, i'm heavily into classic VW's and play a lot of rugby. that's about it!
Meetup interests: you tell me when and where, and i'll be there!
how about a sub forum in each forum whereby we could discuss that forum.
just as my computer cannot handle a high poly count, i doubt this site could handle a high forum count.
oh how drole am i?

I think the seller is wrong, but for people who do not have the Internet, it's a good option to obtain content. I wanted to do it myself months ago, but I decided it was too much work for the time being.
can you explain to me how someone can buy this off ebay without the use of the internet?

thank you daniel!
i'm now working on a complete house (as this was only a shell) litrally starting from the ground up, i intend on modelling every panel, beam, joint and tile in order to create a fully "built in sketch-up" house.
it will at the very least kill my computer (at at the very most, be the best model i have ever made), but it will be worth it, i like to challenge myself!
i estimate it to be completed by the middle of next week (as i only have 3hrs in the evenings to work on it)
shall keep you posted.
oh and that other model is being re-rendered as we speak (on a collegues pc, don't tell him!)
cheers again for the feedback!

apolgies, i'm about to be really thick.
what exactly are TINs? is it a plugin for sketchup or an already built in feature?
are they easy to manipulate, as they seem like the kind of thing i would love to experiment with.
any help much appreciated!

thanks for the help Dzine.
totally agree with the bump mapping, there are still a few bits to add, but at least now i have a good starting block.
i'm finding artlantis exceptionally easy to use, the interface is almost intuitive, and the results appear to be quite good also. i do have podium, vray, and KT, but i have yet to try these out, i may do a comparison of this model though.
thank you again for your help and input, it is always easiest to improve when you have an objective observer, especially if they (like you seem to) have an informed grasp of wht you are trying to achieve.
many thanks

just another quick model/render i produced this morning.
apologies again for the poor quality!
any hints/tips greatly appreciated.

p.s. rendered in artlantis

i can't seem to open the .skp file, i presume this is an issue with the forum transfer?
keeps saying error 404.
maybe i am doing something wrong.
any ideas my fellow sketch-uppers?
thanks
