      thank you!
      yeah i think i have read every article there is to read on the internet!
      i actually really went to town with the rubikc cube, being as i modelled the inside workins of it too, despite not being able to see it in the model (i know it's there, and that is all that matters!)

      this boredom coupled with the glorious sunshine, and the fact i can see my convertable from my work window makes work exceptionally annoying today!

      ah well

    • Quickie

      just a few lil 5 min models and renders.

      got bored at work, so i decided to model some things from my desk.

      oh and before anyone mentions the fact that the white block on the rubiks cube should be yellow, i do know but i was copying directly from the one i had in front of me, and it appears to be a cheap knock-off!

    • RE: Acceptable or unacceptable?

      the thing i find most shocking about this whole scenario...is that we're still talking about it! (no offence remus) come on, lets leave this in the corner bar to archive, and we'll all meet up in a pub to talk about the wonders of sketchup.

      what time is the next bus to the pub?

      i find threatening behaviour works well in this situation.
      joking of course!

      you don't really have a leg to stand on with reagrds to this dilema, you have no ticket, he's a ticket inspector. seems a bit of a no-brainer to me.

      was a bit unlucky though to be fari, i've done that loads of times with my single tickets.

      oh and by the way, this:

      the second render is really effective, not sure on the first one though, don't know why, guess i'm not really a fan of "birds eye" views.

      lovely though all the same!

      There are times when good modeling and great textures mixed with creative composition can out do many renders.... this is one of them.

      great work.

      i totally agree.
      sometimes a really precise, detailed model can have more of an impact than a photo realistic render. there is something incredibly honest and humbling about a finely detailed and well composed model.
      solo, you (clearly along with topo!)are masters in this field.
      i would also imagine that this kind of modelling makes for a more natural progression into the realms of rendering?

      plus it was getting all serious in here, and i was getting confused.

      @pmiller said:

      Unfortunaely, re-orienting the axes will not work for printing to scale, you must rotate the model and use the default standard views.

      @gaieus said:

      When in TOP view, you can re-orient the axes to align your model. Not in a view of a non aligned side though.

      thank you for the correction, i wasn't 100% at the time, now i am!

      @remus said:

      You would never be able to print a perspective drawing to scale anyway, whatever the software, because the whole idea behind perspective drawing is that things look smaller in the background, so nothing would be to scale.

      at first i was going to make this point, then i realise that perhaps jorgensen was pertaining to being able to take scale elevations from the views between the standard.
      with the exception of a ruby, i think the only way of doing this is (as previouslt stated) to re-orientate the axis.
