and another!

yeah it is pretty awesome!
next one is set in NY, so i'm off there in Feb which will be wicked.
you only realise when getting to the end of the final degree year, that it;s the last chance in your career or designing something really mental, so i've thrown my rule book away for this one.
here are some more images for your perousal.

we have a saying in the rugby team i'm a part of solo, which might be of interest to you.
"when it comes to alcohol, spillage is lickage."
i've actually had to 'hoover' up a most of a beer off of a pub floor when someone knocked my drink out of my hand.
pav
sorry guys, beet fereting away and forgot to reply! my bad.
the brief is to design a 'flood evacuation building' incase the worse happens in London.
it's estimated that if the thames barrier ever failed, and the ice caps melted the water level in london could raise by 5m over it's average height.
the design has to incorporate:
a control tower and helipad,
a canopied seating area for at least 800,
a first aid station,
housing for 15 permanent staff (similar to live-in lifeboat personel)
storage for 5,000 blankets,
racking for 20 PolarKraft + workshop to maintain them
soup kitchen to house 200 at a time
toilet facilities.
the idea is we are creating a design for a specific site (of our own choosing) and then this can be replicated throughout London.
there are two other key points as well,
hope that answers some questions?
jopsa, that is an amazing link, there are some real interesting things going on there, i like!
i should have some more images ready soon, i'll post them soon as they are done.
thank for the interest, i really appreciate it.

it is now tuesday, so i have decided to assume the mantle of quote of the day, mainly bacause i heard a blinding one on monday but it was too late.
"A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing."
i know it isn't quite the same vein as the previous posts, but i'm drunk and i don't like arguments.
pav
currently at uni we're doing a project on flooding in london.
the first part of the project is to create a shelter, at least 5m off the ground.
it's still in very early development, but this is what i have come up with so far.
C&C welcome. I shall update this (if people are interested of course) as the project progresses.

pav
i really wanted this mouse, my best friend has two (he's that cool) and they're pretty awesome.
i just have one problem.
i'm left handed.
pav
[EDIT] helps if you include the link!
getting nearer...
(4 !) + ((4 * 4) * sqrt(4)) = 56
pav
not got it perfect, i'm at 52 so far. it is 5:15 am though...
(4!)*(sqrt4)+4 = 52
i'll get there though!
pav
this is only surpased by your traci lords thread.
he he, legend.
pav
ahh good plan!
you can see i'm having trouble, as it's 5 am and i'm still up...
i shall give that method a go, thank you so much!
pav
yeah it is s toughy, i do apprciate the help though.
i'll do some more experiments and see how i get on.
pav
SSB only works with closed loops though doesn't it?
pav
I'm hoping somebody out there can help me...
I'm trying to creat a 'mushroom' shape vortex space frame in sketchup.
I can do it quite simply with one vortex, as all i do is run TIG's wicked lathe tool on a modified 'c' shape, delete the faces, and then run Didier's just a wicked lines to tubes ruby. Job done.
The problem is when i want to do more than one vortex, i just cant see how i can do it neatly.
I've tried to draw the vortex, intersect with a cube and then fit together, and this works great, but the lines i need to run lines to tubes dont match up and it looks silly.
I've tried using SDS on a cylinder between two planes, and even on 4 iterations with a high segment count i get weird bumps, and of course no ability to easily convert the lines to tubes.
Ive also tried using the sandbox tools, but this looks even sillier!
if anyone has any ideas i'd be really grateful, unfortunately it is too late to change my design (pin up is in a few days) and i'd quite like to find a way of doing it.
Ive attached some images so you can better understand the mess i have gotten myself into.

the inspiration that has caused all this headache...

thank you in anticipation.
yours in sketchuping
pav
really beautiful, thank you so much.
i used it with the BZ toolbar, and you can set the segment amout for the line at the start which is a real time saver!

thank you again
pav
ok, been putting it of, but here is my V-ray attempt.
i used a preset as a guide and made this material, not sure what it is!
its has some mega harsh shadows which i have no idea how to get rid of as i am still learing V-ray.
Rendered in less than 40s which i was mega impressed by!

pav
has anyone here rendered these in vray?
i have no idea how to achieve sss in it?
feel like a fool...again!
pav
i'm not convinced the room isn't moving around him and the floor staying stationary.
just like in this video...
