You're on the sketchucation forum, have you looked in the Plugin store right here for Tig's Mirror.
Thank you so much Box, worked brilliantly. Happy days .

I am an ex Sketchup Pro8 user (now retired)!! I have started using Sketchup 2015 for personnel use (just can't keep away !). When I used Pro8 I had many very useful plugins and extensions. With my new free version I do not have the need for so many extra tools but the one I miss most and would love to have again is the 'Mirror' tool. I have looked in the extensions warehouse and cannot see anything obvious that would allow me to mirror objects. Any ideas if one exists for use in SU 2015 and where I might find it?
TIA for any advice or information.

Often the logitech drivers can be the problem. It can be better to run the mouse with the default win drivers.
Hi Box
Thanks for that, worth checking out.
Hi Dave
Don't you ever sleep !! ))
Thanks for getting back. The mouse is a Logitech standard two buuton + wheel. I have tried another mouse (both fairly new)whith the same result. I have re-installed SU but no change. As I say when first installed everything was hunkydory. The mouse works as it should in other applications. Bit of a mystery, guess I maybe stuck with shortcuts for the immediate future. Lucky I've retired so there's no pressure on my output!
Thanks once again.

Hi
My pan and orbit mouse functions have stopped working in Sketchup 2015 (Make version).
It worked fine after I installed SU but stopped suddenly. This was after I inserted a component during a drawing session. Any ideas on how I can get these functions back? Pan and orbit work fine when selected from the menu but I have to exit before going to the next command. The mouse wheel works fine for zooming.
Any advice appreciated.
Many thanks
Again many thanks for the good advice. My old Pro 8 is unrecognisable with the amount of plugins and rubys I had installed so, as you suggest I need to start afresh and as I have now retired I have lots of time to do it....trots off to put some coffee on ...!!!
All the best, P

Before you get too involved in looking for SU8 Pro, you should read this. You should also understand that SU8 doesn't support the current operating systems so you if you do get a copy of it, it may not work correctly The official download options are shown on this page.
Thank you Dave. I suppose it's what I expected the answer to be !! As you suggested there are quite a few options and the most sensible is to use the 'Make' free version although I will miss the layout Thanks for taking the time to reply. Just another quick question - can you install plugins when using the free version?
Cheers
Hi
A long time since I have been on here and wondered if you might help. I am an old Pro 8 user and have now retired from professional work. I do however use my sketchup for personal use and for friends projects etc. I have just purchased a new computer (laptop) and would like to install my old version of Pro 8 as I still use the Layout function. I cannot seem to find a way of downloading a Pro 8 version (64bit) from the Trimble site. Any ideas where I can go for this or am I just a old dinosaur ?
TIA for any advice.
Patrick
Hi Kris. These look really nice. Have downloaded and look forward to using them.
Much appreciated.
Thank you.

Patrick, did extracting just the bit that you needed help with the quality?
Hi Dave
It did thank you and combined with changing the open GL setting to maximum texture size I'm a happy bunny!! I don't feel I need new glasses anymore ;o))
Onwards and upwards......

I do normally convert to png or jpeg but the image quality is always reduced and makes tracing harder.
Have you set the texture quality in the OpenGL preferences to "Use maximum texture size"?
I had not tried that. Have just done so and it helped enormously, thank you for the tip. I've avoided using maximum texture size for general work as it does slow the model down but for tracing stuff from png imports it's really good.
Thanks again.

Patrick, I frequently use images from PDFs as references in SketchUp on my PC. I zoom in as much as possible on the part of the page i need and then I use the snapshot selection to copy the section to the clipboard. In Photoshop or Paint.NET, I paste the image and save it as a PNG file which I then import. Rarely do I ever need the entire page imported into SketchUp and this gets me adequate quality for tracing over. There is an example of that here.
That sound interesting..I'll give that a go, thank you.

The PDF import is only available on a MAC.
Your profile says you are on a PC.
However, you can easily convert a PDF file into an importable image format [e.g. PNG], using an image-editor like Gimp [free] or Photoshop [$].
It's only one extra simple step in the process and works well for me...
Thanks TIG
MAC bias eh? ;o( I do normally convert to png or jpeg but the image quality is always reduced and makes tracing harder. No matter I'll carry on regardless.

Hi all
According to this sketchup webpage http://www.sketchup.com/product/features.html - sub heading "Import Images: Paint Walls with Photos", it is possible to import a PDF file into sketchup. I am using SU Pro8 and this option does not appear when I try importing under "all supported images"?
My pdf's can be vector or bitmap. I just need the image to trace over to get some design sketches done prior to a survey and full design. Is there a ruby to allow this or is the SU features page incorrect?
TIA for any advice.

Download the current version of LibFredo6 it and replace the old version. Then it will work fine.
Thanks for your quick response Dave. I'll do that. Had a hunch it was the thing to do but did not want to upset my settings!
Hi all
Since you moved to your new website my 'Fredo 6 Collection' automatic update check does not work. I get a message saying the sketchucation url cannot be checked? Do I need to download the Fredo 6 collection from your new website and reinstall to activate this again or is the automatic update check no longer available?
Any advice welcome.
TIA

Hi Patrick,
I would first wade through all my plugin folder to remove any renderin related rb (or rbs) file manually. Uninstalling the application itself may not remove these files, too.
If SU is still unstable, you can safely reinstall it and all your custom added plugins should remain intact.
**As for the forums - it won't disappear.
**
Hi Gaieus
just an update to let you know how it went! I did as you said and removed all render related rb files and it appears to have done the trick. I did not have to re-install SU so maybe I think that Render[in] 2 clashed with my other render programs, I had Podium and Shaderlight installed. Anyhow all's well and thanks again for your help.
Thanks also to Annsi and Catamountain from the google forum for taking the time to reply to my call for help!
Many thanks Gaieus.
Appreciate your help as always ;o)
Hi, can anyone advise me on a problem I can't resolve? When I launch SU I get a bugsplat every time. A couple of days ago I downloaded Render[in] 2 after receiving an email from them about the latest version.
It seemed to make SU unstable and after a couple of trial renders I un-installed the programme completely. Since then I cannot start SU. My question is should I re-install Su and will all my plugins (of which there are many!!) remain. Do I need to save the plugins elsewhere and reinstall them one by one?
I'm using SU Pro8 (latest version) on a windows XP platform.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Patrick Doyle
As for the future of this forum - I learned how to use Sketchup properly on here and all the hints, tutorials etc have been invaluable. I would hate to see it disappear.
Hi TIG
I am a relatively new SU user (now addicted!)
I have just used your roof tool for the first time and think it's brilliant. Thank you for sharing such a fabulous resource.
A Merry Christmas to you also.
