Cool, post a pic of the finished print.

RE: Place a shape on a curved shape
Hi, Fredo scale does have taper scale so see if you can use that for scale.
Here is a file I created using Flowify plugin.

Try with this plugin...

RE: SketchUp 2018
This is the completely useless edition for anyone who needs to pay for an upgrade from 2016, 2017 to 2018.
I really think that Sketchup is freeloading on plugin developers work for last two editions, to put it mildly without strong words.
One software as Blender gets a more overall update from version to version, and it is free for any use than one that you pay and get cosmetics.
Blender is developing Evee for version 2.8 next year and all we get from 2017 to 2018 is smoother graphics and smart sections.
My first impression of this is just sadness and disappointment. -
RE: Round straight with round ends
For me, it works just fine. First I select edges I want to round and then use FollowMe tool.

RE: Text in Arabic?
You could write it down in Illustrator or similar vector software, export it to DXF and import it in SU.

RE: Sketchup causing n-gon triangulation when imported to UE4
I think that when you wore modeling you made that square on the right. You should just triangulate all of your mesh prior exporting, or before triangulation, you should delete all hidden edges on that surface.

RE: How to create a twist that turns on itself?
If I had to than SubD (or Artisan) and Vertex tools is what I would use. Toughest would be to make the curve for that object.

RE: SubD examples and models
Impressive, RichΒ΄s gun and B194. WOW! Can wait to see B194 textured.

I have over 20 models that I start and never finished and on all occasions, i lost my temper and aborted them (with a lot of screaming and swearing).
Unfinished models are good practice! You try things you normally wouldn't attempt in these unfinished projects.
Eventually, all the unfinished practice yields benefits like the chair you shared. Really goo model
Thanks, Rich.
I know, I even started learning Blender to get some solid knowledge on Subdivision.
I do have some more furniture models I would like to model myself so we will see how that will go. -

nlipovac, great job. hard to believe it's your first try at an upholstered chair.
Thank you Tuna1957, but this is not my first try, it is my first successful finished armchair model.

Very interesting textures...........
In render?
After modeling it I did not have any will left. -
RE: SubD examples and models
Spend half a day working on this Armchair, and now I call it done (it is not!).
This would be the first time I pulled this of doing armchair.

RE: T.V. Stand #2
It looks great!
Since there is no middle vertical beneath that shelf so what about making that middle part between drawers invisible. -
RE: SubD examples and models
I was stumbled upon this video... can we have in SubD something like this?
I still pursue mug I made with a normal map to create a high poly model with geometry instead normal map and for that, I was watching videos on hard surface modeling with a subdivision. -
RE: Hard time trying to make a specific object
For a scene like Ken's, you have to make, find or buy textures that already have that old look.
Second, you have to have a way to apply those textures to object. For that, you can use SU Paint tool, or SketchUV or ThruPaint. To make low poly objects you need to have a plan you scene before you start.
Sketch your scene and objects you need and then model objects. Search for references to get a feel what is that you want your scene to look like as finished. If you are new to Sketchup than you have to start from the beginning and learn from the start, then plugins to model and plugins to help you with texturing. A lot of artists who use SU to model sometimes use other Programs to finish their texturing. So if you are new to 3D modelling then you should first try to learn basics like how to model with best practice (depending on software) nad apply basic textures with or without UV unwrapping. To model that object I would make a model in SU using Vertex tools to manipulate the object to its rough shape nad use SubD (or Artisan) to make it smooth and subdivided. Use SketchUV (WrapR or Ultimate3D) to make UV mapping and export it to *.fbx. Then I would try and finish texturing and detailing it with SubstancePainter (I am new to this software). And that is my way of thinking of this task, but someone other would do it other way. There is no magic formula or one tutorial how to do it, and if you are new to modelling then you need time to learn basics. Here we can help you if you have a problem with a task you are doing, like how to model something on a model you are working with or to texture something you are working on but we can not fill gaps so you can skip learning those steps in between.
None of it I wrote was to offend you.
