You also need to go into SketchUp and go to the Help menu and go into the license submenu. Choose "Set network License File" and then navigate to the new network file on your new server. See if that does the trick,

      Chris

Yep I've did that and the thing is it works if I specify its old location. But when I copy the network license file to its new location on the new drive somehow it doesn't recognize it...

I'm thinking that it's because the license file itself doesn't like to be copied around...?

    • Network License Issue

      Hey guys,

At my office we have two network licenses running for Sketchup Pro version 8.0.4811.

Previously the network license file Sketchup8.If was located on our S server. We're planning to do some IT maintenance in the near future and retire the S server all together.

However when I tried to copy the Sketchup8.If file to a new server and re-link the network license file to it's new location, for some reason Sketchup won't recognize it. It will only read the network license file from it's old location on the S server.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

      Cheers

    • RE: Vray - Transparent Gradient Glass Help

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys!

After some more tweaking and fumbling around I think I have got it to the stage where it's kinda working.

Thanks for all the uploaded material files. They really helped me to see what was actually happening!

    • Vray - Transparent Gradient Glass Help

      Hey guys,

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I am trying to create a glass material that has a gradient transparency to it - i.e. opaque on the right hand side but becoming progressively more transparent on you move left.

I was going to it on a glass balustrade.

      Here's what I did:

      Duplicated existing vismat glass material.

Created a 500 x 500 pixel gradient map in Photoshop.

      Gradient_Map.jpg

Went into the Diffuse settings and then mapped it to Transparency:

      Diffuse_Settings_1.JPG

      TexBit_Settings_1.JPG

Added a Refraction later to the material after Diffuse:

      Refraction Settings.JPG

But here's what I'm getting in the preview:

      preview.JPG

But the final render ends up looking like this... 😲

      Render.JPG

I've had a good read of the guides below but not sure what I'm doing wrong...

Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

      Cheers

    • RE: Vray 1.49.01 Still no render progress bar...

      Thanks for the response guys.

Yeah I'm slowly working my way and fumbling about into Vray again so still feel kinda lost without a progress bar there as a guide.

But it does seems like the new version will include it? Fingers crossed!

      Cheers

    • Vray 1.49.01 Still no render progress bar...

I know in earlier versions of Vray (think 1.48ish) there was a render progress bar that informed you what phase of the rendering was at and how much time was left.

I also know that they took out that function because it was causing instability.

Now it's been a while since I've used vray but having loaded up the demo version 1.49.01 the render progress bar still missing...

It's very frustrating especially when you're testing out different render setting to not know how long a render is going to take.

How is everyone else here getting around this problem?

      Thanks
