Network License Issue
-
Hey guys,
At my office we have two network licenses running for Sketchup Pro version 8.0.4811.
Previously the network license file Sketchup8.If was located on our S server. We're planning to do some IT maintenance in the near future and retire the S server all together.
However when I tried to copy the Sketchup8.If file to a new server and re-link the network license file to it's new location, for some reason Sketchup won't recognize it. It will only read the network license file from it's old location on the S server.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
Cheers

You also need to go into SketchUp and go to the Help menu and go into the license submenu. Choose "Set network License File" and then navigate to the new network file on your new server. See if that does the trick,

Yep I've did that and the thing is it works if I specify its old location. But when I copy the network license file to its new location on the new drive somehow it doesn't recognize it...
I'm thinking that it's because the license file itself doesn't like to be copied around...?

I thin we just move ours around as needed (we've done lots of server changes over the last 5 years). But I'll ask our IT guy if there are any extra special steps involved.

The network licensing mechanism doesn't support mapped network shares (e.g. X:/Y:/Z:), use the UNC path only, e.g.: \ServerName\SketchUpLicenseFolder
The folder used needs full read/write permissions of course.
For moving a network license to a new server/folder just create a new license file from scratch.
