Hi Andy bot, thanks for sharing I will check out your model when I get a chance and let you know how it goes. My model is around 61mb and I didnt use any proxies to avoid them not being sent across the network.

hi, just to clarify, have you moved this model from 1.622 to 1.623? I think a universal problem vray has always had is moving models between different vray versions. If you copy and paste all into a new folder does this solve the problem?

new candidate build doesnt appear to have fixed this. beginning to wonder whether its my setup or the software. Also now appears that patch render in animation no longer wants to work?

andybot I am using 1.60.23 jun 11 that is the latest right? is there any chance you could somehow share your settings so I can see whether I have set up the scene wrong as I wouldn't want to report a false bug.
Dkendig, I will follow Andy's advice first to make sure that its the software and not me and then if not I will submit.

Ok as an update, I have tried the following two variations still with no improvement

after precalculating the LC, this time I loaded the LC from file and left the irradiance map to 'incrementally add'

no precalculations - straight render
still the slaves drop off after the first frame, I get the impession that the machine is receiving the data but is waiting for something to activate it.

Hi I used DR and saved light cache files as per the tutorial, how do you submit a bug report dkendig?
andybot, did you let it render past the first scene? Mine worked ok with saved maps up until the first scene and then the slaves dropped off. When starting and restarting the DR spawner the host would send over the info but the slaves wouldnt render

Is this a bug in vray 1.6 or has it never worked? bit frustrating as I'm looking at a 2.5 day render which could presumably cut in half if I could get all spawners to contribute

Animation and the DR Spawner
Hi All
Using Vray 1.6.23 Beta and Sketchup Make.
I am having my first attempt at making a short of animation. I followed nomeradona's tutorial which is pretty much faultless.

However, to speed things up I want to use the DR spawner, now firing of the first test which is 5 seconds of animation at 30 fps, the first render used all 12 cores (2 machines), then the subsequent frames have dropped down to the original local machine which is only 4 cores, this has so far been running for around 8 hours and only produced around the first second of the short, with all 12 cores it would presumably be around 3 seconds worth.
The DR spawner is working and currently displays [dr]getting frame data.but has not processed anything since the first scene
Is there a setting that I have missed to make sure that all slaves help render each scene? as at this rate its going to take 2 1/2 whole days to produce 5 seconds. or if not is it possible to pause after each frame and restart so that all cores are working?
Also as a side note: using the DR Spawner I noticed using the new find hosts button, it found an extra 3 hosts, this is peculiar because it normally only finds 2. Upon rendering it has somehow managed to thread the original machine, which is an i3 4 core machine. This machine is now rendering with 8 cores. This is weird as I have used this machine many times before but with only 4 cores. I should also mention the extra four cores are definitely something to do with the DR spawner because the extra four start sometime after the original four start. I am obviously not complaining about this feature but am astounded I have this much secret fire power and if anyone knows why or how this worked I would be grateful.

Wide angle Views
Hi All
I am giving the new Vray 1.6.23 and sketchup Make ago. This is probably quite a simple question but I would like to do a very wide angled view or at least one that to the same ratios of say an a3 piece of paper. My screen is unfortunately very square and it seems the vray view is linked to it. I tried making the view wider using the viewport overide dimensions but it just cut the top and bottom off the screen to make it wider.
Any ideas

is anyone else having trouble installing this? I am getting the message that it is not compatible with my version of windows ie 64 bit vista, i have also tried it on a 64 bit windows 7 with the same problem. frustrating as I'm really looking forward to trying this out!

I have tried that and to a certain extent it works but it doesnt quite zing as much as i'd like, coming out quite dull even when the multiplier is turned up, so I think it is working but is being limited by my lighting and(hdri) and also the diffuse map I am using,so on this occasion I've just decided that maybe a post render technique might be a better solution!

Multitonal Reflections
Hi guys
I am trying to create a material, a sort of glazed ceramic tile, that has a great difference in colour between tiles and therefore a great tonal variety in reflection colour. Does any one have an idea how to get the reflections to match the tonal variety of the tiles? at the moment using the reflection colour filter gives a uniform reflectivity.
Any ideas?

Rebuild Faces
I've used Sketchup for a number of years but have recently attempted to learn rhino, one of the cool features I like in Rhino is that you can rebuild a face to be made of more or less points/faces within a face, is there a method plug-in to do this in sketchup?

I don't know alot about this but I find after doing alot of simulatenous renders on the trot it happens and have always assumed its a lack of ram, a reboot seems to always fixes this.
