Ah yes, the "real" curve/circle/arc versus the "approximate" one. Duh. Thanks!

But be aware that if you Entity Info a selected single arc then the length reported is the arc's length, but if you select two arcs then you will get the total length of their segments, which will always be less that the arcs' total length - the fewer segments the more the discrepancy.
To see it draw an arc and get its length using Entity Info.
Now copy the arc off to one side and select both arcs - Entity info will display the combined length - but it will not be x2 the single arc's length.I tried it and, not unexpectedly, TIG is correct. But could someone explain what's actually going on? What is the arc's length if not the "total length of their segments"?
Apologize if I'm not understanding something obvious, thanks. -

how about a lava lamp? preferably with dynamic components

RE: Latest project
Thanks! Though it was a lot of work, in the model I actually did all the joinery as well- mortises and tenons, tongues and grooves, rabbets, bridle joints, etc. As I was building the piece in real life, I was glad I had all those details to refer to.

That's really nice of you. I really do love the work. I keep my bartending gig so I can be selective about the work I do.

Latest project
Hello all. Thought I'd share my latest commission, a "step tansu" cabinet (in Japanese, "kaidan Tansu"). approx. 63"x58", out of cherry. I still need to build a ladder that will sit on top, which will allow the client to reach their loft. As much as any project I've built, SketchUp was invaluable. Helping me design, figuring out joinery, keeping track of parts, layout, double checking all my details, etc. Took 3 months to build, it was a fantastic, and challenging experience. Thanks for looking!

RE: Krenov-inspired Cabinet WIP
One of my favorites of his- I love the detail of the top of the sides and the connection of the cabinet to the stand. Though your grain matching could use a little work

RE: Export a model
...or you export a "snapshot" of your model as a jpeg and send it as you would a photo...

RE: Latest Project
thank you- I hear you about floating tenons, and in general, I agree. But trying to cut integral ones on curved pieces over five feet long, with angled shoulders- just a little too much for me. Perfect job for the router

RE: Latest Project
Thanks a lot. I like the "split" top effect as well, and for a while have wanted to use it in a piece. The idea to taper the undersides was an idea I "borrowed" from Michael Fortune. The end view reminds me of older car tail lights (Cadillac maybe?)

Latest Project
Hey there all- I'd like to share my latest project. A sofa table, 74"x24"x16", made from Madrone and Bird's Eye Maple. Nary a straight line in the piece. Bent laminations, double mortice and floating tenon construction. I always say it, that SketchUp was invaluable, but this time I mean it literally. I don't know that I would have been able to build it, without SU helping me with angles, layout, measurements, etc. A joy, and a challenge, to build. Oh, almost forgot- the design was influenced by one by Michael Fortune, a well-known Canadian woodworker

RE: Bedside Table rendered in Twilight
I have a bedside table that has that kind of shelf on top. I really like it- a good place to stash a book or two...

I agree it's too beefy, but it was a quickie
