                Not just a study but a wonderful (real) piece of furniture - I'm impressed.
                I particularly like that the table top is made of 2 boards, which are tapered(?) like wings outwards.
                And I agree with your statement about the role of SketchUp in dealing with such complex geometry...

                  Thanks a lot. I like the "split" top effect as well, and for a while have wanted to use it in a piece. The idea to taper the undersides was an idea I "borrowed" from Michael Fortune. The end view reminds me of older car tail lights (Cadillac maybe?)

                        thank you- I hear you about floating tenons, and in general, I agree. But trying to cut integral ones on curved pieces over five feet long, with angled shoulders- just a little too much for me. Perfect job for the router
