Here is a render I did in artlantis 4 and modeled in sketchup.
I am looking for opinions, I know there is no sink or ceiling for that matter but that is next.

Nice
They are QCodes, modern Barcodes that smartphones read. If you scan with phone they can lead to websites or info on product
CORRECT. I put that there because next year will be the first year my tech program will utilize the AUTODESK Academy software package. I like hinting to things without telling the kids. That way they wonder for a summer what the next year will bring. It is the QCode for the IPAD/Iphone app for autocadd viewing and editing sorta. helps emphasize how cool next year WILL be.
Did anyone pick up on the GEARS word first being spelled by using 1337 letters? I am waiting for a kid to see that.

Cool animation. I kept waiting for the gear to move at the end though.
I knowwwwwwww... Well my problem was time, and I began creating the motion by putting the gear onto a servo or motor and letting it get up to speed, then exporting that animation. However, the computer didn't like that and kept crashing so I moved on.
I also could have set the background color of the image to transparent, and then put a solid color of that background in a different layer in Premiere, and then use the rotation tool for an image but just went with this.
In order for me to create promotion of my after school club where I teach, I made this video to kinda tease its existence for next year. I think it should keep them guessing and at the same time generate interest and motivation to find out what we will do. Mostly it will be AutoCAD competitions, FIRST Robotics, and any other CADD and engineering related activities I can find to get these kids experience in.
THERE IS NO RENDERING, just using sketchup and sketchy physics, flashMX and Premiere Pro..
I might try twighlight since I heard it can render skphys at the same time it is moving. However, I work like the rest of us and I need to learn it first
Thanks and keep contributing, I find so many useful things here.

So I am looking for some work on the side of my teaching HS and found a company that puts solar panels on roof tops. I did a shell of a family house, brought it into artlantis 3, and did a few renders.
my complaint is creating walkthroughs, I guess I need to work more on getting these cameras to flow better. Are there any hints out there in doing this? or as I do this, imagine something so it keeps me focused on the right area.
This is all self taught, any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Sketch-Up 7 with Artlantis 3.
I am attempting to break into the design world outside of teaching architecture and CAD to high school students. I found Artlantis to be very fun and very easy to add water effects and their default walking animation of a person.
Should you have any suggestions or thoughts to help me gain experience in this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance,
Jason
Yes, the students went through a few class examples of making arms, wheels, moving objects, and eventually to this point. They started with only the arena, that was distributed as a skp file to each of their computers and they built upon them the vehicles.
Thank you sketchy physics, it has been an integral part in the fun learning process of robotic movements. Here are two Youtube videos that show students controlling their design using both a USB controller and the control panel.
Hope you enjoy it and thanks again SKPHYS... great plug-in!

Thank you! I am a teacher using this for my robotics class. The design abilities and creativity I get to engage my students in is amazing, thanks to you. Much appreciated.
So I took the plunge and proposed, (yes was her answer). I had it made, the designer uses Rhino, he did an awesome job. I asked him for the STL file, imported it into AutoCAD 3DS max. had some problems with it but exported it into a compatible file with google sketchup and then went straight to kerkythea after coloring it and separating the diamonds. I added the cameras and lights in Kerkythea, exported the animation into FlashMX and then assembled the five or so SWF files into Adobe Premiere.
here it is

From one teacher to another, great use of Sketch-Up. It is through these techniques of reapplying the learned knowledge across multiple platforms that helps retention. I am a high school teacher and have seen the 3D world draw every kind of student into its uses.

Animation looks great and smooth, but what's up with the shadows?
I do not know. I am learning KeryThea now. The reason why I stick to KerkyThea is so that my students can use a render method that is free. any thoughts? It is only 1 light, and I lessened the shadow color so it was not pitch black. Maybe some light passed through the translucent glass but then got screwed up because a setting was wrong somewhere.
I would like to contribute to the neon cube render challenge. I tried to quickly get something together but rendering Self Luminescence seems to be confusing and difficult to myself. I put together this you-tube video of my Neon Cube.
I am a H.S. teacher that is using Google Sketch-up for my Architecture Fundamentals class. I would like to take my students on a walking trip with cameras through our downtown area to begin modeling it. They are then going take the model buildings of downtown and upload it to Google Earth. I would like to avoid having students upload their models to Google Earth and have it be viewed by the world. I was wondering if anyone has ever set up Google Earth that has models uploaded by a classroom of students and viewable by ONLY those participating students.
This would be like having Google Earth refer to an IN-HOUSE directory/Server of models that the students upload to. If this is possible, or I did not fully explain the idea I want to do, ANY help would be appreciated. I just want a little city the students created from the combination of Google earth images and physically seeing the models, then uploading and "wandering around town" with everyone elses models in it.
I am actually using it in my classroom for my Robotics kids. They have a blast. We make vehicles that travel obstacle courses, pick up shapes, move the shapes to a destination. Breaks up their day they say.
Hello to whom can help out with a photo match to KerkyThea error.
I modeled a coffee table from a photo match jpg and then rendered it to test out some ideas before I bring it into my classroom (I teach architecture and we use sketchup and kerkythea). I was wondering why this texture showed up the way it did in kerkythea. Does Kerkythea have the ability to import that information from a photomatch?
I am a high school teacher in NJ and am currently introducing students to this version even though it is still in beta. The bugs are small and so far the kids love it. This is in my robotics class I just started and am trying to get them away from building simple robots with legos and actually have something with movement and controls through the computer. This program could not have come at a better time. I am struggling with the program slightly but I feel that the students and I will learn side by side for now.
By the way, a logitech usb control pad went right into my computer and worked instantly. no problems, now all I would like to see is the use of the buttons for something.
do you basically plug in a controller to a USB port. Any adapters needed or software to recognize it? obviously a simple controler is adequate enough but i would like to know what things may pop up when i give this a try.
Thanks!
