Yes, for anyone else that may come across this problem in future, a reinstall will work

RE: Missing window: Shadow Settings
It's odd, no such luck. I even deleted the whole reg folder in hoping that Sketchup would regenerate it. Thanks for your help though.

RE: Missing window: Shadow Settings
Thanks, but no such luck. Even removing all plugins doesn't work.
I think I'll just revert to a uninstall/deleteprefs and start again. Thanks for the suggestions.

RE: Missing window: Shadow Settings
No,
I can't remember what caused it either, I only thought it would happen once and the next time I'd reboot or start a new instance of SketchUp it would be back. But it seems to be like this permanently.
Even if I could see the title window I'd be able to right click and use the windows "move" tool but this isn't the case. Apart from total reinstall does anyone know how to reset the windows?

Missing window: Shadow Settings
Hi,
For the last two weeks pressing the "Shadow Settings" button fails to bring up the window, just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem? It doesn't seem to be hidden.

It's a tool, the button stays down for as long as you use the tool. Activate another tool and the button goes back to its original state.
Sorry for the late respsonse, but thanks for the reply!

RE: Render application Home pages
Actually to be a complete geek, mental ray is actually not an Autodesk product but a "mental images" product who is owned by Nvidia. Autodesk only bundle mental ray into their apps.

RE: Public Beta for Obj, SolidWorks, STEP, and FBX importers
Hi ashraf,
I have to thank you for the very quick response, truly appreciated. However I have to be honest. I have requested a trial licence for the FBX exporter but have noted a few pros and cons over the default FBX editor. I am importing straight into Maya.
Simlab Pros:
- Imports Sketchup's scenes and successfully converts into Maya Cameras
- Textures are saved into the FBX file
- Handles materials much better than the default except there was an instance where one material was duplicated about 100 times
Default FBX Pros:
- Groups objects as groups in Maya rather than using Maya locaters
- Seems to preserve geometry better
- Hidden geometry in Sketchup is completely discarded
Default and Simlab FBX Cons:
- FBX 2011 supports instances but neither plugins seem to preserve this on import
- No layers support
Currently I appreciate the dev work put into this but feel I cannot justify the price as I prefer the Geometry outputed by the default FBX converter even if it is an older version and has a few limitations. I think geometry preservation is a must, I found the same problem happened with the Sketchup to Maya converter too where all geo was triangulated. I post this in the best possible intentions.

RE: Distance to origin: can it cause problems?
Don't do it. Google themselves even say so.
Depending on the distance from the origin, and simply speaking, the accuracy of the lines themselves can actually become inaccurate due to the software running out of decimal points from the origin. It's not as bad in SketchUp but all programs suffer this and some tend to be better at it than others. I know that Maya is shocking at this when you have drawings kms away from the origin.

Sounds good ashraf, thank you.

RE: Public Beta for Obj, SolidWorks, STEP, and FBX importers
Hi,
Is there a possibility that there can be an FBX plugin that exports out of SketchUp and replace the current default exporter?
The default FBX exporter by Google is actually a couple of years out of date and very old. I think current version is FBX 2011.3, wheraes SketchUP uses FBX 6.1! Thanks
