Some interesting artworks.
I was looking aimlessly around the www and came across some images by Boris Artzybasheff. There is a flicker set with some of his art which I thought were really amazing and thought I would share, http://www.flickr.com/photos/x-ray_delta_one/sets/72157622345988524/. They reminded me of someone who used to post here but has been away for a while.

RE: Modular leather sofa
Another one of thse 'wow' moments, cool models and renders.

RE: PowerPoint Vis Portfolio
Seriously good Richard, liked the wood styles which were simple but impressive in getting the point across. What you will achieve a way down the road will be something to see. Please update when you get the time to impress and motivate us.

RE: Cutlist plugin
I cannot see a reason for Dave R to make his e-mail address public, not when spamming has bacome so prevalent and phishing a way of life.

RE: Old stuff but,
A direct quote from trimble uk:-
"Sketchup is either bought online or from a distributor. Looking on the web, the UK distributor are a company called Cadpoint !Trimble no longer deal with this product".

Old stuff but,
Is there ANY interest in fixing bugs like the tendency to break arcs etc during the modeling phase? I asked about the tendency to introduce additional smoothing operations and the answer that it was a high risk problem was insufficient then but apart from this, is the interest there to fix long term bugs which we all know are there. I get the impression that there is not and while this may be seen as a rant it is an attempt to lure someone from the dev team to actually give straight answers for once rather than dance around the issue and get drawn into another 64 bit v 32 bit drain.
So, any of the senior dev folk interested in giving a properly thought out answer, perhaps reassuring folk enough to buy the pro version? Personally I think not, but giving it a go anyway.

Oops - this thread has been hijacked.
Would you guys mind continuing the discussion of how to use VRay in a new thread?
Like a real world discussion, the topic can move around a bit but, thats life.

RE: Sample Model for Rendering - Ferrari
One of the problems I have noted when using wharehouse models is the use of textures. Some folk rename the standard textures which is fine when you only have one mode/aspect using that mat but a thorough pain when that mat is commonly used elswhere in the scene/set. Other folk will use the same mat for different parts of the same model, the jag here does both of these things. Note the glass is the same mat as the tyres which is a nightmare if your render program treats all instances the same. I doubt roadholding will be great with glass tyres. I will post a renditioner render when I am happy with it.

RE: Tape measure tool for guide lines.
'Scuse me, not thinking write this AM, I shall just scale the bleeping thing up and remove the problem at base point. Yes obvious I know, I just had to work it out with a pencil and a very long spoon...........

RE: Tape measure tool for guide lines.
Thanks mate, I have everything set as accurate as possible, just in case that was how things were. A bit of lateral thinking is to try to move the image which is on a group. Not likely but I will give anything a go.

Tape measure tool for guide lines.
I am using the tape measure tool on a picture that I am using as a blueprint. When I have a 3d base model I will scale it as accurately as I can with sketchup.
The issue I am facing is the tape measure tool will not run to the line I want to place a guide line on and despite deselecting 'enable length snapping' the tool insists on snapping either side of the desired line. This is a pain and yes I did a search for the issue but while I foun numerous refernces to the tape measure tool and guide lines nothing seems to fit the problem I have.
Either I have missed something or there is/is not a wrok around that solves this. Does anyone have anything they can share? Thanks, have a great weekend folks.

RE: Chocolate Bar
Very nice result but it would need a smell'o'vision attachment really.........
