Yes I did.
It is not very hard actually.
1- Draw a petal, (I did only one) with S&S. Start with a simple shape. The crease tool is usefull at certain points and edges. Once satisfied, leave S&S and fine tune the resulting component (subsurf) by editing some vertex, if needed.
2- Once you like it, copy the component around and use Flip along Axes and Scale to vary the look.
3- The stem was shaped with FDD, after S&S.
4- Same for the leaves, S&S then FDD. I did two basic components, copied and modified. (They are more like tulip leaves though)
The thorns kind of happened by accident while doing some FDD.
That's part of the fun. Et voilΓ .

I sure am.
And anybody who wants that model will have to pay you and CPhilips (FDD). ! -
RE: Easy and free Render
Hey ! Ho, ho !
I just made myself unclear here, I guess.
No disrespect at all ! Frederik.
On the contrary, my main message is that in all respect for the developpers, one should not hesitate to give them some money for a product he likes.
By no means I meant that all free softs are not good.
Or that expensive ones are better.
I never even said a word about good or bad softs. I only wrote about ease of use.
Very sorry, I am.
But, when a good & easy one is cheap, why not pay a little? as an incentive for the good work. And I agree with Solo too.

RE: Just Released! Subdivide and Smooth
And another example of work with it.

RE: Easy and free Render
I do not believe in miracles. Sure lots of stuff is free on the net.
But, if is easy to learn and work with, isn't it worth a little money.?
I mean, getting to make soft easy for users is pretty difficult.
It requires a lot of long hours of thinking and coding.
Nothing is really free in life, as you know. Some effort has to be done in order to get something.
So one has to pay! But you can choose to do it with your time, learning free (not so easy) softs, or with money and work with easy softs. But you have to choose, imho. -
RE: Just Released! Subdivide and Smooth
Whell ... not exactly a problem, but indeed a slow-downer. I have do it manually for now, every time.
So I second the motion.
Oh and it also helps to put the transparent "boxes" on their own layer.
Many, many thanks. -
RE: Just Released! Subdivide and Smooth
Here is my way of thanking you for that Whaat an amazing plugin.
Plain SU, done with Sub-Smooth and FDD. They just complete each other so very well !!

RE: Lighting Plugin for Sketchup
I have posted a video on youtube. LightUp-Bar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2m_6hjWUsY
A test. It raised many questions.
One not resolved is why the sofa won't render properly. That checkered effect is wrong, the dark areas should not be. -

... that is a LightUp component called an Irradiance Cache. It is discussed in the getting started document.
AdamIn my humble opinion, the Getting started document would be much more easier to view as a seperate PDF file.
It would much less intefere with the flow of work. -

RE: Lighting Plugin for Sketchup
I did some tests.
To get rid of the psychedelic effect, I had to either explode groups, or make sure there are no groups in groups or modify the group, like add a line in the group.
Adding a line at universal level did not correct the problem with the group.
Also, (to contribute);
There is light behind the feet where there shoud not. The dog looks above the platform.
Some faces of the "dog" are somewhat transparent; see the corner of the platform that should be hidden, for instance.
And edges appear somewhat chunkier then model really is. (maybe because of the unwanted transparancy)The test model has 2 groups, the dog and the platform
The transparent effect is gone if I explode the group.

This looks very promising Adam !!
What is the maximum face number in the present demo? -
RE: Polyreducer Experiments
Yeah great work !! Subdivide & Smooth is really a winer.
Can't wait to try Polyreducer.
euh,... the plugin is not out yet, right?
Cause I can't find it. -
RE: My layout wishes
I've been using LO for two small projects lately.
So I would add 2 very technical features.:
for sections : hatching
and for reflected ceiling plans : a dimensions setting to invert them, so they would be ok when looked at from below. -

The Font problem is a known issue with Leopard using the 3D Text Tool.

Hum... I hate a response which is off the matter. Feels like a quick "get it off my desk". -

RE: Disappearing Sandbox-MAC
Hi Craig,
With the arrival of Leopard, I decided to start with a clean machine.
So I did a clean install of the OS.
Then my very first move was to check SU.
So before anything else, I installed it anew, by itself with no other plugins or components or anything else.
Launched it in evaluation mode, same problem. Sandbox palette stays between sessions, but not the toolbar icons.
Entered my license code to get in full mode; same problem.Clues:
I do use dual monitor, my MbPro and a 20" (16/9). I will try with the laptop only
I do resize the model window a few times when working.
Having two or thee different models opened at the same time do happen.
I use quite a few Ruby tools, usually. (But not for testing this)
I usually double-click the .skp file to launch SU. But not always.Test found something;
No matter how SU is launched, the Sandbox toolbar (not palette) is gone on the first model window. BUT ....
If I open another one, it's there !! Same for my other extension, Layer Manager.
Tests done on both single and dual monitor config.oh.. One more thing. Launching SU almost always yields to a message saying that license number is exceeded.
version is 6.0 (6.0.1153)
So I quit and relaunch and it's OK.Huh... maybe the quitting procedure slips on something ...
p.s.: I like the graphics of this board a lot.
