Mac OS X Leopard and SU - text tool problem
-
Good morning.
I have a lovely new Mac running Leopard, and have started to find problems with SU. In the main Leopard thread someone suggested starting a new thread for specific bugs, so here's mine.
The text tool has stopped working. Clicking it opens its usual little window, and clicking 'fonts' brings up the list of fonts, but it's not possible to select from this list.
The tool will create and place open-faced text but not filled text, and will only allow the default font (which seems to be Tahoma). Is this something to do with a change in the way Leopard organises its fonts library? I hope it gets fixed soon.
If there is an obvious fix for this then apologies, and please do enlighten me!Matthew.

Yes that was Brad, I think, of the Google team.
If you don't mind I'm moving this thread into the Bugs forum immediately since they seem to be visiting that one more regularly than other forums.

Same problem here. Mac OS 10.5.1

I get this same behavior. It looks like SU uses a custom font dialog for this - not sure why they don't use the system default. I tried changing fonts using two methods: by just selecting the text, pressing Command-T for the font selection dialog, and making changes therein - nothing happens. Second method was using the model info window and utilizing the "select all screen text" and "update selected text" buttons - again with no effect.

Same problem here.

Weird; on my macbook I can do filled text ok but I do have the non-responsive font dialogue. except that I can type a font size value in the top-right field.

and move the slider also.
But still cannot change font indeed. -
Found this in my console (in case it helps):

Thank you, Brad. I'm glad to know it's being worked on.
Matthew.

Thanks Brad for the reply!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the late response on this topic.
The Font problem is a known issue with Leopard using the 3D Text Tool.
Here are a couple of other gotchas...All the problems are being worked on as I type and we hope to have this problems resolved soon.

Hum... I hate a response which is off the matter. Feels like a quick "get it off my desk". -
Hi Guys,
Though I'm on Windows, I know that most recent maintenance release 4 covered some issues with Leopard.
Could you download and install and check back whether the problem still exists? -
Hey !!! After reading your message, I launched SU and, bing, it says a newer version is available.
And, YES ! the text problem is solved ! Mac v.6.0 (6.4.120)
Great Job guys ! -
Ah, good news then.
Thanks for reporting back (they need reassurance at the very moment...)

Mac v.6.0 (6.4.120)Hmm, I have that same version and although I can set the font and size of 3D text I can't do anything with dimensional or other text; the font dialogue is simply ignored and attempting to use the context menu and the font->styles option just makes a chirp.
