    • RE: ...my first DC...

      Chris,

I did not see your reply earlier, sorry.

Am working on a complete family/system of window DCs that work together. Learned a lot about how to tweak DCs (if I am not wrong even something that is not documented in the DC reference) ...and feel there is more under the hood...

And yes... there will be a lot of OnClick - functionality. Even some conditional OnClick-behaviour.... not only for smart presentation but for OnClick-configuration of some construction-related properties.

Finally I will have to write a small pdf documentation on how tu use those components as there will be a bunch of configuration parameters that influence each other.

      Cheers,
      Franziska

      DC - WiP

btw... looking at my first DC posted here two weeks later now.... I feel it was a first but somewhat rudimental approach of what I think I will be going to get to.

    • ...my first DC...

...just started playing with DC's and I must admit... cool, really cool. Exactly what I missed in SU so much before. There ist still a lot to learn about the functionality. Today I would just like to share my very first component, a parametric, scalable window segment that makes it easy to create a lot of different rectangular windows and glass-fronts by tweaking only one generic dynamic component to get the needed instances/component copies.

This version is for fixed glazing/panels only. A version for casements with on-click window-opens-functionality is in progresss.

Example glass-fronts built from duplicating and tweaking one and the same parametric DC

Thanks for the link.... it looks as if it could be a real interesting approach to the one big thing, I miss so much in SU every day - parametric components.

Anybody out there having tried that tool so far?

this one looks cool. I feel similar as Frederik described... particularly like the impression of being constructable the design has...

    • RE: Hierarchies!!!

      plot-paris,

thanks for sharing your thougths.... they go in the same directions as my wishes do, though I would not have been able to demonstrate my ideas in such a clear way... implementing the hierarchy suggestions would make much sense and be a great help to manage complex structures in very logical and easy-to-handle way. I would use it each and every day.

    • RE: Do you know what YOUR name means?

Good idea, Mike. Interesting to learn about that, especially for names from other countries.

Franziska is the female form of a name of latin/italian origin with the meaning "the little French (historic: Frank) It is said it was the nickname of Giovanni Bernardone, better knwon as Francis of Assisi.

During medieval times the name stood for "the hardily one" "the free one" "the precious one".

Last but not least a Franconian poleax was called "Franziska"... 😎

Besides, "little French" is a cooool name for me... I am about six feet tall.

      Mike,

strange, really strange 😲 Althuogh I can understand the reason for that invention, oh yeah... but you will never see me wearing those. It's a question of aesthetics (and a question of female pride as well, maybe πŸ˜‰ ) There is only one honorable solution for escaping a feet-are-burning-due-to-4 1/2"-stiletto-heels - situation: putting your shoes off and continue dancing πŸ˜› (or - more practical for non-dancing-situations- have another flat-heeled pair in your handbag... πŸ˜‰ )

thank you. And I completely agree with your priorities. The same with me, besides the fact that I had not much time for SU the past weeks due to some fights with CMS-software.

Proud to be nerdy, too. And proud to be addicted to shoes........

@plot-paris: yep. sometimes I believe the way to think about shoes is the fact that divides mankind in men and women...

    • RE: Your shoes.

@igor: Shoes? You really ask about shoes?? You know what happens when you start speaking about shoes with a woman present? I could help you to make this thread a HUGE one... but will try my very best not to...

@solo: "Need" and "Shoe" - I will never understand how these two words can go together. There is really no need at all to have a new pair of shoes - sometimes it is just the existence of a pair of shoes that makes the "need" to own it πŸ˜‰

Today we are expecting about 95Β°F... so this will be the shoe of the day...

As of today I am "working" here, (as long as the sun does not prevent me from recognizing anything on the screen, what happens in the early afternoon).

And when I take a walk or go cycling (which I really need to do to get my mind cleaned up after a couple of hours playing with the 3D-stuff πŸ˜‰ ) the surroundings look like this... in downtown Frankfurt.

      Fredo,

thanks sooooo much for this. Everytime you bring a new tool to life, I get the feeling of using a brand new application or at least a new major release of SU. I fear that SU won't have the same progress regarding the core engine...... Anyone here to be in a position to write a multiprocessor-enabled SU-clone with all that plugins being built in...? πŸ˜’ πŸ˜‰

btw... what happened to the handrail of the balcony in the KT render? Did it get lost due to the ten different export-pieces from SU to KT?
