m.c. escher's impossible drawings have always fascinated me, so i tried to make one of his drawings, 'relativity' in sketchup - it took me quite some time to figure out how to model it in sketchup. i could do it almost completely but had to distort the perspective of the tower on the right a little in a vectors prog to make it right. as people are not my strong point i left them out.

wow, i find it hard enough to work out whats going on just looking at that model. i wouldnt stand a chance modelling something like this, i think my head might explode!

are you going to do any more renders?

            thanks to all
@baz: i know about the people, but this was because of the challenge to do the image, so i did not care about the people and other props.

@jon: i would not mind, but i don't know how and where to put it - it's a 3,8 mb file

@remus: to be honest, it gave me a headache too - it took me a fourtnight working on it to get it right. yes, i will try to make some more escher drawings in sketchup, but i don't promise results - it is quite difficult. (i am working on two different escher images at the moment, but neither is publishable)

this is what the original model in sketchup looks like without any adjustment.

That is pretty cool Koosie, it has the effect of really making me smile looking at that.

Im certainly with Remus though, it would make my head explode modelling that!

I had a go at Escher a while back but nothing nearly as ambitious as you.

Search the 3D warehouse too, there are some interesting Escher works there.

Eric, if you did want to upload it, here is a possible way:
break the model up into manageable sizes.
"copy/paste in place" into new files.
upload the files as separate attachments.

anyone who wanted to, could reverse the process to see the whole thing. I bet Im not the only one to have spent time trying to get my head around this drawing, I would be very interested to see it in 'real' 3d

On the other hand, it is a bit of stuffing around, so please dont feel obliged.

                                          baz

ps;I dont know what the upload size limit is on the forum, had a quick search but couldnt find anything.
