      Hi Fred,

Would you be so kind to point me to that little video tutorial you made earlier.
A moderator moved a lot of topics...and now I am just lost and can't find it anywhere.

      Thanks in advance,

      Kwistenbiebel

By the way: wouldn't it be useful to combine all your 'TIN' threads into 1 big thread?

      Thanks Stinkie and Solo.

Indeed I used a light emitting material for those windows.
Actually, for most unbiased engines, this is the only way to 'model' light (besides sun).

    • RE: Using 'instancing/proxies' is fun

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

@Marked:The vegetation I use comes from different sources (3d warehouse, evermotion, Xfrog).
Some of those models need poly shrinking (even when using instancing).

@Stinkie: no problem πŸ˜‰. I hope instancing for Maxwell will work as it should. Sometimes I have the feeling that the development of the Maxwell plugin somewhat limbs behind...

@Dzinetech: I agree, instancing should be on the to do list for VfSU asap.

A little night shot update on the Indigo scene.
The pavement needs some work ...

Wow, it seems I still have to learn a lot about modeling even when I am using sketchup for almost 5 years now.
Sorry for the biggest Noob question of all time: What does TIN stands for?

      @greentoaster said:

I would name my next child SketchyFFD if we could make the edge curves (borders) static or locked.

Indeed, that would be great as that would allow making a FFD group of parts of the organic shape . Manipulating that part would hold a seamless transition with the rest of the object.

      Thank you πŸ˜„

A try out using Vray. Unfortunately VfSU does not support instancing/proxies so I had to delete a lot of the 3D vegetation for this one to avoid crashes:

    • When Sketchup 64 bit?

      Hi all,

Lately I am experiencing trouble when using render engines for Sketchup, as for big files the render export process eats all the RAM memory (resulting in a crash).
As I want to upgrade my PC power and go 4GB RAM or beyond by default, Sketchup, being a 32 bit app, is becoming a bottleneck in the workflow.

Sure, Sketchup is able to run on 64 bit OS, but only as a 32 bit application, meaning it can only adress a limited part of the RAM as the app is 'mono-process'.

Any news on a 64 bit version (SU7 ?) in the pipeline?

      Thanks in advance,
      Kwistenbiebel

      Thanks Stinkie and Frederick.

I launched another view (Skindigo) and let it render the length of a game of squash πŸ˜‰

The roses seem to be slightly oversaturated. Not sure about the rotated view either:

    • RE: Using 'instancing/proxies' is fun

      Thanks Ilay7k and Solo πŸ˜„

      @Solo,
I think instancing and displacement are two of the newer features that can boost a render a lot. (displacement not available in Indigo yet)
By the way, I am amazed with the things you pull off with Vue extreme, a technology I personally know zip about.

      @Ilay,
I didn't use SSS on the leaves.
In the Indigo render they are plain diffuse (the Fry versions has specularity assigned).
I'll try the SSS feature later on, but I think render time will suffer from it.

      Thanks for your comments,

      Indigo instancing.
The house model from Vizdepot (new Charette).
      3D vegetation added and instanced.

    • RE: There are NO dates for SU 7.

It's reassuring to hear that some SCF people get the chance to be on the 'inside'.
Hopefully some render engine users are on board as well (you know: the ones that need high poly working etc...).

Good news....looking forward to lucky number seven already πŸ˜„

    • RE: Make Human - poser style 3d character modeller

As I expected, CjPhilips 'JointPushpull' ruby works quite well to make clothes for MakeHuman models.

I am not a good organic modeler, I just 'joint-pushpulled' the torso and a part of the head.
It needs more modeling but I guess results can be good...

      http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r3/kwistenbiebel1/humanmaker-and-jointpushpullbar.jpg

The only hassle is the tedious way to select the triangles to extrude.
Sketchup could use more selection options (soft selection etc...) to get a better workflow imho.

    • RE: How to intersect and have the cut geometry as groups?

can be useful...but I have no need for automatic copying of the symmetrical half.

I popped the question on having groups when intersecting just as a means to be able to select certain parts of geometry of a organic form.
