    • Simple mirroring

since my start with SU6, i used thoroughly the: mirror on red/green/blue axis feature in the context menu.
Sometimes i tried plugins in the hope to get that basic feature in a toolbar plugin version, but in vane. I saw several interesting align tools, usable, but not necessarily one-click commands.

Isn't there a mirror ruby maybe with toolbar, offering the same basic mirror-functions as i search?
If there isnt, im able to cobble together a toolbar myself, but id need the commands doing the mirroring. Thanks for any help!

    • Searching for a slice tool

i really like to slice up my models, unfortunately the default Sketchup method shows solids how they are: hollow inside. Which isn't really helpful, in reality things are different. πŸ˜„

So my question here is, if somebody knows a plugin able to fill in with faces those edges cut by the slice plane of Su. Usually i did it manually, but I'm a bit tired to do it. I checked already several plugs, so the reason of my post.

    • RE: SketchyPhysics 3.2 Need bug reports!

      Hi,

i get following errors with the last version 3.2 (Dec, Mac)

what for a symbol? i found no corresponding files in my Sketchy Physics folder

always the same Reset dialog, when i push reset

start position, with everything (simple hinge joint) correctly aligned

strange out-balanced end position, when i simply push Play/Pause. I have to put my car in a 45 degr. position so that everything works correctly.

    • RE: Kerkythea launcher for Mac Os

      Hi,
      i made some minor adjustments.
1# ability to create simple bump maps
      2# a new workflow between Sketchup-Kerkythea

      Workflow steps

      a) drag one of your Sketchup files (*skp) onto Kerkythea starter: this creates a Symbolic link and a Render folder for you, everything organized in 'Desktop/Render Projects/'. Plus, it opens your skp-file in Sub) now, in Su, apply materials and Lights using the bucket fill tool and the Kerkythea plugin`s lights
      c) export your materials/lights using the Kerkythea plugin and save its file with suffix '*xml' in
      'Desktop/Render Projects/Symbolic Link of your Project/@ Render/'
      to have everything organized
      d) create bump maps with Kerkythea starter

Hope my approach is easy to follow as i feel it it does. I use to save most of my files all near the desktop folder, because its fast, especially in combination with symbolic links. Feedbacks are welcome.

    • RE: Kerkythea launcher for Mac Os

      Hi,
i did it. I present you: the Kerkythea launcher. Nothing of special, but i hope its useful for someone.

The application creates a script to open Kerky files and it makes some folders and symbolic links only. In any case, i don't take any responsibility for data loss or damage for proper/improper use of this software. This launcher comes without warranty!
A help file is attached, bug reports are welcome !

two things aren't working yet: startup in an expanded window and to show everything in solid view mode. I'm investigating on it. But i can't guarantee nothing.

If no, would be an amazing thing to have something similar as SU plugin (referred to Autodesk Forceeffect)

i coded and code most of my needs in Applescript, so my second thought is always -code it, if nobody wrote it-
but in Ruby i'm (almost) helpless. Would be hard to code such a plugin ?

    • RE: Scene rename-missing dialog box

      Hi,
i got the plugin. I tried to:

#1) rename tab 1 to tab 3 using the !-prefix, as the script explains.
However, the scheme continues to extend the name convention of the first tab to all scenes, and ignores the ! in tag 4, were i wanted to start with another (the given) name scheme.

#2) exclude tabs 4 through 10 == ex-and included scenes are renamed without distinction.

      Sum.
Renaming with a custom name should be easy. And not via wildcards, special characters of any sort. Implicit, Intuitive methods are easy to forget and not valid for everybody.
I'm not a 'friend' of message boxes, because they block the workflow, but sometimes they are fine. They are simple to invoke; plus renaming should help to organize and therefore limited to active scenes in my opinion.

    • RE: Scene rename-missing dialog box

      Hi,
yes, it is a way. However, scenes situations change and the need to rename them differently too. So, i wanted a dynamic way to assign names, using a dialog box.
Nice would be too, to have the option to rename only a part of scenes, like to rename scene 1 through 4 (of 10) with a given name, followed by a numeric value in one shot.

    • Scene rename-missing dialog box

      Hi,
i have a plugin (downloaded from ruby depot i believe) who states to rename scenes. Scenes are renamed always with prefix "scene" but thats not what i wanted.
the script seems to use dialog boxes too, but i never got the choice to enter another scene name. Whats wrong?

      Here, the code:

i got a nice answer from the people of Enmesh. I cite:

      @unknownuser said:

"Unfortunately, the plugin used in the video you saw on YouTube was made as a demo only and has not been developed further or released. The only plugins available are for SpaceClaim and IronCAD."

we could collect signatures if there is a real need and interest in such a product. However, bear in mind that such a plugin would work only in conjunction with another, bigger software, who does all the calculations.

    • RE: Kerkythea launcher for Mac Os

      Hi,
i'm '5 fore 12' to release a nice Kerkythea launcher.
I had to do several researches to accomplish my task and the workaround i did created a bit more code at first, but offering in return some comfort. I had luck to succeed, because Kerkythea offers absolutely no command line options and X11 isn't really scriptable-a mess in other words. πŸ˜†
Anyway, thanks at those who suggested me with nice ideas ! β˜€

      features

      1. now you can open xml/kzx files via drag/drop and choose dialog
      2. now you're able to organize quickly your render project files side by side your 3d work files

if you want other features, drop me a pm. Donations are welcome!

      rules
-files and file paths with non-latin characters like umlauts will be ignored (Adjust e.g. Γ€ to ae, first)
-the same applies for quotes: remove quotes/apostrophes from file names, else the file will be ignored
-drag and drop only ONE file per time
-select valid files, if you want to get results

let me do some finishing touches and remove a bug, which bothers a bit.
      Stay hungry.
