    • Window Positions Not Saving

The toolbar position bug has infected my computer. I never had this problem before but now it is driving me nuts. My toolbars need to be repositioned everytime I start SU.

I have two monitors and place all the toolbars on my second monitor. SU 7 took care of that with no problem. 8 ignores it. The toolbar save and restore command doesn't do anything.

I see this mentioned in the Forum, but I don't see a solution. Has anyone figured this out?

Only 2 minutes long, Teacher uses my new format for extra-short shorts, which I call "Make your point and Shaddup!"

    • "Inside" -- Another Movie Created with SU

I just finished another movie - "Inside" - and it is posted on the TreasureInside.net website!

This is my attempt to say what that word means to me. I have received a dear gift, learning how to feel deeply inside myself. But it seems that word sometimes brings confusion.

      "But Inside doesn't really exist."
"But anything inside you is created by you."
"But true reality is common to everyone. Not just yours."
"But when you love other people, then you lose any thought of yourself."

These are some of the comments I've heard. But I want to say, "Of course there's really an inside. To me, it's a direction. I'm learning to travel there.

      HOMEthumb.jpg
I just finished another one! "The Story of Home" is #16 in my Treasure Inside series. They are all done with SU animation (plus some 2D images). This is the best, if you ask me.

    • RE: Default Material ... huh?

Yes, I know about painting a group and the "windshield phenomenon" (the default faces will take color and the colored faces will not), but I did not know that the group acquires its own default color. You learn something every day!

    • RE: Default Material ... huh?

I discovered something. This happens when the face is part of a group. If I paint the default material (unpaint it) then it returns to the original color of the group.

    • RE: Default Material ... huh?

Not so. I have my default face front and back set to nice blah neutrals. I paint default with the material browser and faces turn green. Bright green! I don't want green. I want blah.

    • Default Material ... huh?

I have a question about the default material. There's the unpainted default, set in Styles. There is also a material default, which replaces a color when you unpaint it with the material browser. How do you change the color of that material default?

    • Video Ads ... my new business!

I have a new business that SUers may be interested in. Please take a look at this sample ... http://vimeo.com/32535726 ... an ad I just made for the SU work I was doing. You may want something like this for your work, to show clients and for online ads.

After investing a great deal of time into moviemaking for Treasure Inside (http://www.TreasureInside.net), and using SU for all the video animation, I decided to start a business doing short videos. These will be ads for online play, as well as short movies for pet owners and parents of their pets and children. I will continue to animate segments and use SU. If you have a use for a video, send me email at jmvideos@verizon.net

    • DVD of SU Animation! (Oops, I fixed the URL)

The Treasure Inside DVD is finally here and ready to be ordered!

Treasure Inside is my series of movies about inner discovery. They are all made using SketchUp. In one movie, Behind the Scenes, I talk about my techniques to create them.

On the Treasure Inside homepage, http://TreasureInside.net {THIS IS CORRECT NOW!}, you can click on the DVD image and find a shopping cart where you can place an order. If you would like to see how the DVD looks, click the links to view the DVD case and insert card.

The DVD includes the entire series of 15 movies: all the movies on the website plus two bonus shorts. Behind the Scenes and Credits shows how the movies are made and the people who worked on them. Treasure! is a short (but fun!) movie that will be used for online video ads.

DVD's are $16 (an even dollar amount cause I hate everything .99 this and .99 that). This is a good bit cheaper than most DVDs online (usually $19, sometimes lots higher). There's also a big discount for multiple copies. Every additional DVD is only $9 (2 for $25, 5 for $52) Maybe a gift for a friend who is interested in inner experience? Maybe people can split the shipping cost?

      == Why get a DVD?

I was asked about the reasons to purchase a DVD. "Why buy a DVD when I can just watch all the movies online?" I came up with a few good reasons:

      • You can relax in your living room and watch them on your tv.
      • You will have no download problems: those awful pauses, hiccups, and echoes.
      • Your computer does not have a good sound system and want to hear them with good speakers.
      • You want to view easily but do not have a fast internet connection.
      • You want to split an order with friends - with the Gift Disc Discount.
      • You want to give gifts to friends and family that might start some conversations about what you're discovering.
      • You want to watch the 2 bonus movies: Behind the Scenes and Treasure! - which are only on the DVD and not on the TreasureInside.net website

    • Another Movie .... made with SketchUp

I just finished another short movie in my Treasure Inside series. I want to invite everyone to watch ... "Tsunami Thoughts" at TreasureInside.net

These movies are all made primarily with SU (with jpgs). This is the 13th, 5-minutes long. It will be shown on MindTV (channel 35.1, mindtv.org) and submitted to film festivals.

    • RE: A curving barber pole??

I'm only concerned about that part with the diagonal stripes, not the bolt heads or overall shape. The stripes are on a separate part, a cylindrical rib that runs along the outer edge of the fin. Like this ...

      Thanks!

    • A curving barber pole??

It's hard enough to do a stripes design, like on a barber pole ... but I've got one even harder. The pole is curved. Here is a photo and a model to show what I mean.

I have to model it, but this one has me stumped. Does anybody have an idea how to approach it?
