    • RE: [Plugin][WIP] Layers Panel - Behaviour

Another question posted in the dev topic :

      Layer colors

We cannot retreive layer colors from the api, so I won't be able to sync them with the plugin. TIG wrote a workaround to define a layer color by RGB values, but not a material. So that'll be a big limitation of Layers Panel. I personally never use layers color, so I need people to tell me if that's a needed feature, and if they want me to include TIG's code.
      So, to summarize :

      • What's possible : Set a layer color, but only color
      • What's NOT possible : Get existing layer color and display them in the plugin window. Set a material to a layer. And if a color is set by the plugin, it cannot detect change if color is changed in SU's layer window.

    • RE: Vray Frame Buffer question

There is history in Vray for other softwares. I guess it used to exist in Vray for Sketchup, but not in the current version.
I think I understood it'll be available again in future releases.

But anyway, you can do a region render for what you want to modify, and composit it with the full render in Photoshop or alike.

TT > It is indeed my first ever plugin ! Thanks for the links, but I already bookmarked and (partly) read both 😉

Since it's my first plugin, even my first experience with ruby, and it's rather ambitious, I may need some help. Anyway, I'll probably open a new topic soon to discuss the behaviour of the plugin.

    • RE: Layer organization

I'm currently working on a new Layers window where you'll be able to have groups like in Photoshop. (It's actually very similar to Photoshop's layer window)

A samll scaled noise map in the bump slot will do the trick.

Actually, most countries use commas as decimal marks.

      Green : Comma
      Blue : Full stop

That's great. What would be even better would be to be able to sort plugins by number of downloads. To see what are the most popular plugins.

    • RE: Using Proxy in Vray for sketchup.

It's just a trick to improve viewport performance, but Vray has to parse all the geometry anyway, so it's not as usefull as real Vray Proxies.

    • RE: [REQ] weird effect in vray

You have a displacement map in your material. Uncheck it in the material options, not in the general options.

The "100%" is just the zoom in the FrameBuffer. If you scroll it'll change.

Maybe with a map in the reflection slot ? A map matching the diffuse map.

    • RE: VRay "zooms out" the scene when rendering

Is your sketchup viewport in parallel projection mode ? 'Cause Vray can't handle it.
If so, just use a FOV of 1.

In your sample file, the glass doesn't have any reflection layer when I open it. When I add one, the glass renders fine.

    • RE: Displacement problem: ok on the preview but not rendering

      @andybot said:

I don't believe it's possible to have the displacement go "below" your face.

It can if you put a negative shift value. But by default the water level is at 0, so the face disappears.
