Maybe just to tell you how install a plugin ?
Load the plugin, as it's a file ".rb" and you have a Windows System says your profil
Compress it for have a ".zip" file (if you have not http://www.7-zip.org/ but use Zip format)
Rename the zip file ".zip" in ".rbz"

Now From Sketchup Menu Window/ Preferences/ Extensions / Install Extension/ load the
      "add&Allign Component.rbz"
      Close SketchUp
      Re launch SketchUp

Plugin will be Menu Plugins (or Extension, I don't remember)
      SDM Tools / CorG Tool / add&Allign Component ๐Ÿ˜„

I'm trying to align a piece of tube to a guideline which is at an angle to the X, Y and Z axes. How do I do it in a simple way?

Right click on it and see if the option UnGlue is in the context menu.

Yes, the Unglue is in the context menu. I clicked it and now I can move it up and down. I have to find out what this Unglue is, never seen it before. Thanks!

    • Moving a component along axis

I have created a dynamic door component and I am trying to align it with the door post. I need to move slightly up and whatever I try it won't move upwards. I try with inference and holding down the Shift key or using the Arrow Up key but nothing works. When I try to move it up it moves away and trying to move it down it moves towards me. I was wondering if there is something with the way I created the dynamics of the component that causes this. Any ideas?

      Hi

Checked DC, correct and works fine. could you check the axis 0f the model you have inserted it and see if it changed the DC axis?

I checked the axes and they are OK. I tried to import the DC again into my project and it appeared as in the picture although the DC doesn't look like that. I then tried RELOAD on the DC and it corrected itself. I think that I have imported the DC before, scaled it and got this wrong form and the saved it by mistake. Could it be that my project 'remembers' what my DC looked like before? Now it all works but I don't understand what's happening behind the scene in SU.

      LenZ "

      could you upload the DC?

otherwise open and check the axis of the DC, this can be corrected (right click a part of the axis and place) and then close and save it as a component (use right context menu)

      Here is the DC

    • DC confusing behaviour

      http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt87/hcccs/pic2.jpg

Strange things happen with my corrugated sheet metal roof DC. The attributes look like in picture 1. If I import it into an empty project the repeating function works but the attributes now look like in picture 2. If however I import it into my house project it doesn't work anymore. The 'creases' multiply but they become elongated. The attributes look like in picture 2. Is it normal not to see the sub-component in the attributes? It is very confusing. Can someone tell me what's happening?

If you open an empty SU file and insert Roof, you will have a component called Roof with a sub-component called Tile inside it.

It's actually simpler than I have written it.

Yes, that worked! I'm not sure I understand how but I can work on it. It'll come to me eventually. Thanks!

    • Component and sub-component

How do I create a component with one subcomponent? This is a common starting point in creating a DC. If I create a new SU project called 'roof' and save it and then add a previously created component called 'tile' I expect to find a component 'roof' with one subcomponent 'tile'. When I look at the Component Attributes there is only the subcomponent in the list. How do I do it?

You shouldn't use a dynamic component to do that, you should use fredo scale box stretching to target instead. Much more practical and less computer intensive ...

      @dave r said:

Is this for a Dynamic Component? If so, you need to set the scaling for the Len(x) of the center component and only move the end component on the right. Don't apply the scaling to the whole parent component.

This is meant to be a dynamic component. I now set the scaling of the main component and both end sub-components to all hidden. The scaling of the middle part is hidden except for the X axis. This means that there are no scaling handles visible at all so no scaling is possible. Did I misunderstand what you said?

    • Scaling sub-components

I'm trying to make a scalable steel band consisting of two sub-components, two end pieces and one middle piece. I have made the two sub-components and set scaling restrictions on the end pieces to make them non-scalable. I have then put three pieces together and made them one dynamic component. When I scale it it effects the entire component and the holes get elongated. How do I compose these sub-components so that the middle piece is changed and the end pieces are left unaffected?

What do you mean by '2013 M1'? Should I install an older driver? Which one? I use a NVIDIA GeForce GT630 card.

Try changing the OpenGL settings under Window>Preferences. Probably turning off Use Hardware Acceleration will fix it.

And if it does, (diagnosing the problem) then you need a better driver to get that "Use hardware acceleration" (your graphics card) working again to gain full speed again.

p.s. Don't forget to turn it on again after getting that new driver. You may need to search for one that better supports OpenGL.

I downloaded the latest driver for my GT630 card. The strange thing is that this problem appeared suddently and I can't find out what caused it. Turning off HW acceleration helped but the resolution got worse. Upgrade the card perhaps?

    • Sketchup selection oddity

When I make a selection I get a strange grid of lines across the entire object. The selection works but it looks weird. Even stranger things happened yesterday and I downloaded and installed a new driver for my NVIDIA graphics card and got rid of that problem. Is this a SU problem or something to do with my own HW?

    • Geolocation problem

I use SU 2014 on a WindowsXp system. Geolocation worked a few weeks ago and now nothing I do can make it work again. If I'm lucky I can get a far as selecting region but when I click on GRAB I get back to the map again but without the four pins and there it freezes. Looking in task mangager I can see that Sketchup uses 50% of CPU and I have to end the process to get on with anything on my PC. I have edited the sketchup.dat file by changing the MODEL_HERE_DIALOG parameter to reflect the new server but nothing seems to help. I even restored my system from a ghost image from the time when it last worked and that didn't help either. Has it got to do with the fact that Trimble has taken over? There's got to be someone who knows how to fix this.
