i cant seem to get my preferences dialog on screen ... i select it from the window menu and the cursor goes white but i cant see the dialog anywhre on screen ...

help please ... im using a dual monitor setup and i have tried restoring my windows and moving them but still no luck

maybe use a similar system to what adobe using with its products ...

The individual EEby.. tools will no longer be updated.
Any new or updated EEby tool[s] will be issued in this zipped set...
However, the 'notes' will remain in each individual tool's thread, and I shall also remove the downloads from each at the next update... [which might be next week].

First you need to be editing a group/component.
Next you open Window > Preferences and click on Shortcuts
Now in the filter window type close.
You should see Edit/Close Group/Component.
Select it and add you preferred shortcut to it - I use Alt+B.
From now on pressing Alt+B will close the current edit session - if you are nested into edit a number of levels then repeat the key until you are back at the Model level...

To assign a shortcut that is context specific first get that context, then filter to find it - e.g. hiding the rest of the model toggle on/off when editing is also very quick and useful as a shortcut... or you can select a face and then Reverse or Orient become available for shortcutting - these are both useful too...

i know you can select the model from the outliner dialog ... is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut for this or a little ruby?

this is really nice i would like to create a library of these sort of canopies and shade structures ...

could some video tutorials ala chris fullmer ... explaining when its best to use which tool over the other one for us mere mortals and explain how exactly they work ... that'll be great

Thanks, there's still quite some ideas that i wish to complete with 1001bit tools before going into something for interiors and furnitures. But i'll keep this in mind. I do not have a 'crystal clear' thinking process on how to approach interior and furniture design yet.... need to 'meditate' on that for a while...

how would i draw a diagonal curved line from plain to plain ... ? top right corner to bottom left corner ?

that is a good workflow and i use it for when doing more complicated models ...

but iam using SceneExporter plugin from smustard to export 30+ scenes from a single file, and if you do not save the shadow info in each one then no shadow will be present in that particular export ... so i have to update each scene with the new time/date etc...

i have tried the first method ... worked perfectly ... i didnt know youcould update individual attributes like that with the double arrow icon ... very handy thanks

ill try the first tip ... i have multiple scenes with different shadow settings and if im right in saying if you dont lock down th shadow settings for each scene then they wont render inside the SceneExporter plugin ...

would it be possible to create a function that you could say save shadow settings ... and then apply those settings to selected scenes ... rather than having to readjust them all individually ...
