      Why not? You can type 0.9999 in the VCB very fast...

      It's not convenient when you have to type .999998 .999997 .999996 trying to get to the right place. and what if it were .4569 .4568... or what ever the precision factor may be.
      There should be a visual way to do this.

      I am trying to scale an aerial photo onto a map... and actually I have just come up with a workaround to the problem by creating a grid of lines at the approximate interval I want, and using the native scale tool while snapping to those lines as I scale. Not very difficult to do actually, but it would still be nice if I could do without these guides, or without typing long numbers.

    • Precise Scaling?

      When I'm using the native scale tool in sketchup it always snaps the scaling to .01 intervals.

      1. Is there a way to get it to snap to smaller intervals?

      2. Using Fredo's amazing Fredoscale I can never scale something which is close in it's scaling to the original scaling because it always snaps to the original size when I'm around .05 from the original (when I'm looking to scale .00001 without inputting those numbers). Even if I try to scale once to a scaling which is far from what I want, and then try to rescale (hoping that it won't snap anymore) it still snaps to the original.

      • On a general note - Fredo, your scale tools are priceless! though at times, I am completely lost when trying to figure out what the various tools are trying to snap to. They never snap to anything coherent or something useful...

      I'm trying to figure what are the benefits of working with this layers system are over working without it. It looks nice... but not sure if it's good for me.

      In my workflow on a model with various versions of a building, I save various scenes. In each of the scenes I have a set of layers that are on and off accordingly.
      (Of course all geometry is on Layer0 while only groups and components are tagged with different layers).

      Now if I try to implement this Layers Panel plugin I am basically losing the ability to save scenes with different layer visibilities...? unless I am not understanding something.

      The groups are helpful in that I can turn on and off different groups of layers, but the Sketchup scenes do not save that information of what is on or off, right? So I have to manually select each layer or group of layers visibility for each of scene... It kind of defeats it's whole purpose in my opinion, unless again, I am not understanding something.

      1. I autoinstalled it through the the sketchucation plugin store 2.0.0 and sketchup immediately crashed. (I sent the crash report)

      2. It says my internet Explorer version is outdated when the Microsoft website says it's the latest... hmmmmmm

      (using sketchup 8.0.16846 on windows 7. have firefox installed and used as my default browser)

      Did you know that when you click on the plugins menu and then tap on a letter on your keyboard it cycles through your plugins starting with that letter?
      It's a native Windows feature for keyboard navigation... like when you press Alt in any program.
      I just never thought of using it in Sketchup... Something to think about...

      There is only one drawback, if you only have one plugin that starts with a certain letter it will be activated before you can say Robinson Crusoe!

      1. It would be great to have the ability to choose a bunch/list of components to paint, that alternate randomly or in a cycle - kinda like with the "component spray" plugin.

      2. An idea to think about... Having the ability to set a point in space that all blue axis of newly inserted components will align to. Like a magnet point.

      3. The ability to rotate objects randomly in all axis. Not only in the XY. Not sure what it would be good for... but it could be nice.

      I copied and pasted all the groups to another sketchup model (outside of the one component they were in, and they were all converted. could it be this plugin doesn't work within a component?

      Thinking a bit further to the use of such a plugin, it would be nice to have a toggle key, that would enable you to continue the same arc with the same length of segments, but in a different direction - Actually, it should operate exactly like the regular arc tool. It's all about the length of the segments being detected and used as a starting point.
      It's gotta have a visual preview, either like the original arc tool, or something like Fredo's join push pull plugin, etc.

    • [REQ] continue existing arc plugin

      Hi,

      I'm working on a model that has many arcs and circles involved. I was wondering if there is a way/plugin to take an existing arc which has a certain length of segments and to continue that arc from one of it's edges with the same length segments. It would be a visual plugin where you select an arc and start pulling on one of the edges adding segments as you move your mouse away, or you type how many segments or how long you want it to extend...
      Maybe it exists already?

      Up till now I either have a full circle with the right amount of segments "in storage" below or above my model which I keep making copies of and cutting up where I need, plus I have the center point (using arc center point plugin), just in case I need to make more...

      Or another method would be to select the arc I have and rotate-copy it from it's center point "lengthening it" and multiplying the copies... It works, but not too convenient making that center point and trying to find it later when it's really far away some times.

      Maybe you should have it mentioned somewhere that the first scene is rendered twice. Maybe there should be an option to enable or disable that feature?
      Why actually do you have that? Is it for better transitions when doing compositing later?

      I just installed the latest Vray 1.60.23412 Beta , and still no go for animations for me.

      I set up two different scenes.
      under render settings output tab:
      I check to "save output" and I specify an output file name and location. C:/temp/1.png

      I check on "animation". I checked "include fame number".

      No go! I click on render, it goes through the animation quickly in sketchup and starts rendering. But it keeps rendering the same frame again and again, the camera isn't moving at all. What am I doing wrong? are you sure vray 1.6 supports animation!? I've asked about this before and haven't gotten a straight answer.

      bump,

      This problem is not solved - returning a computer to a previous state does not seam to me a plausible solution. I eventually solved it myself reinstalling plugins from scratch, but that also isn't a satisfactory solution... and now it just happened again on another computer which I really really don't want to reinstall everything... maybe someone has a solution?

      I've been using a similar mouse configuration for the past 4 years, I was in pain with my index and middle finger orbiting and panning too much. I second that the thumb solution is very very good! πŸ‘ πŸ‘

      But in my case, I am still using the old style corded mouse with a ball! (I found it in my Dad's basement) and it's just super comfortable! And since it has a PS2 connector (remember those?) I found a USB to PS2 adapter. Works perfectly!
