@unknownuser said: Guzman That's very cool ... Do you have any suggestions or tips for teaching kids in Sketchup? Thank you! Well, kids love sketchup, so normally it's easy to engage them. My main advice is to guide them with worksheets so that they have a precise aim in each lesson. Put great care in giving them clear and easy to read worksheets. Introduce sketchup commands very gradually in each worksheet. I normally follow a path that goes from simple polyhedrons (cubes ....) to everyday objects (tables, chairs, ...) to more complex objects (both mathematical or real objects). You can check here what they've done last year in 18 lessons more or less. Models are subdivided in collections according to lessons. guzman.

@flipya said: ... I love your project man! It's great how you mix 'boring old' math with computers and 3d animation. I bet there's not a single student who didn't love doing this, and I'm sure by doing this you've taught your students a much better feeling for triple-axis systems. I was always pretty good at math, but some of my classmates weren't. They would've had great benefit from a project like this. Thanks Philip, you found better words than I was able to find to describe the meaning of this project. I plan to describe better the whole project and to make the worksheets freely available but it's gonna take me some time and I need to translate them. guzman.

Here goes another one: Model by Enrico (music Nine Inch Nails) [flash=640,385:1y83mr7y]http://www.youtube.com/v/OSPSQSM81Og&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0[/flash:1y83mr7y] hope you find it interesting, I think you can see that Lorenzo (the first one) is more technological, Dario (the second one) is more life enthusiastic, and this one is more childish and war-centric. guzman.

Una cosa che mi ha incuriosito sono le riprese con la camera che segue le macchine... è una caratteristica di sketcht physics? Non l'ho mai utilizzato, per cui non so.. Ciao, grazie. Scusa il ritardo nella risposta. Sono stato un po' impegnato ... Insegno a Firenze.

I coudln't resist and I made the students' cars work inside Google Earth. I did not write the code (it was written by someone at Google), I only changed it to make it work with the students cars. Accept to install the plugin if required, it's great fun ... Drive your car in Google Earth hope you like it. [image: edo-google-earth.png]

@unknownuser said: Vey nice idea. Have you introduced SU at math lesson? Such a task at IT lesson would be easier to justify Thanks Tomasz, Yes, I used Sketchup for math lessons. I think it is a powerful tool in math lessons for a variety of reasons. Math objects become tangible, you have to draw them, you have to concentrate on the process and not only on the product, you can visualize lots of math concepts: orthogonality in space, polyhedrons, lines in space, ... rotations in space, shifting, scaling, ... (to name but a few) When students know the tool, the teacher may also use Sketchup to show lots of math results (decomposition of cube in pyramids, cavalieri theorem, ... ). Lessons: basics simple houses polyhedrons (students' models) tables and containers cars (students' models 1,students' models 2) @unknownuser said: I love those cars. So much diversity among them Tomasz [image: macchine+B3.jpg] [image: macchine+E2.jpg] [I would have loved to carry on this work with these students, but it was only a temporary post. I'll try SU in the next school for a longer period].

I understand that any change in the geometry will be unhidden by default, but after undoing every step some entities do not return to their hidden state. I tried many times and I always get this behaviour even thow the unhidden entities in the resulting scene may change. thanks,
