Sorry - me again
The Sandbox tool has worked fine, but there are certain parts of my terrain which have no level even though there is a Z definition in AutoCad?
Any ideas?
Thanks again

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your responses.
I'm really confused - I imported my dwg file into SU and you can definately see level changes etc. but when all the lines are imported (I didn't have to explode it) they are all segements?
So I've highlighted all the lines and did the Sandbox command.....but then SU is just hanging
I did find this tutorial in case anyone else wants to do this http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23732
Hello - me again!
I have a couple of drawings for my site which have ground levels and contours on them.
Is there an easy (and I stress easy!) way to create a terrain in SU?
Thank you

Tas, if you can send me the .3ds file, I may be able to convert it for you.
Hey,
Thanks for the offer - but it's 70mb!
If I upload somewhere, will you be ok to download it?

Hi,
Thanks for your responses.
solo - I imported it in millimeters and meters and it still didn't work
pmolson - I exported the .max file to .3ds in 3DS Max 2010 (student trial version)
EarthMover - I am more of a newbie in Max than I am in SU so I have no idea what you are on about! I couldn't find "optimizer" just "ProOptimizer" and that killed my machine!
I've attached some pictures if that helps
Hi,
I have a huge (70mb) .max of a city that I want to import into SU so I can add sections, put my building on etc. However when I import it as a .3ds some bits appear to be missing - the most important the ground!
Has anyone else had problems or ways I can over come it?
Thanks
I feel really guilty asking loads of questions, but hopefully one day I'll be able to answer someone elses questions!
I want to make a various coloured neon panels for a bar like the attached picture, but I have no idea how to do it.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Problem solved thanks to my new best friend remus!
Thanks for your replies.
I need to print it pretty big - it's going on an A1 poster.
I had to make the graphic at the default image size (1214x619) because it kept dying I'll have to increase it in PS.
Also, I had to keep the Antialiasing on because one of the styles I have used didn't work when I turned it off
Sorry for the late reply.
After reading your replies, I might have been exporting the image too big. Just checked it and it's 7200x3671
Shall I just export it as the view size and make it bigger in PS?
Thanks
Hi
I've only been using SU for about a month, but I totally love it
I'm trying to make visual of one view but 3 different styles - basically 1/3 to look really sketchy (because I can't hand draw!! ) 1/3 to be semi coloured but still sketchy and the final 1/3 to be photorealistic (which I'm doing in Kerkytha)
The first visual I did with a basic sketchy style worked as I exported it as an .eps and it opened in Photoshop fine, but I can't export the view with the semi coloured/sketch style. When I try exporting it as an .eps SU just hangs and crashes, and when I try exporting it as any image (.tif, .jpg, .png) it says "Failed to save file C:....."
Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks
