Seems faster to me, especially jumping forums & sub's.
Thank you,

Display question
I’m wondering what effect if any does the number of icons on a desktop as well as the size of the background image displayed on the desktop have with SketchUp?
I like to display motivational images (Steve Oles renderings).
Thanks,
Glenn

RE: Maximum Render Size?
Daniel,
What do you recomend for pagefile size for a dual core 2.8, 2mg ram, XP?
On some website I found last night, they suggested pf=1.5Xram.
Thank you,

RE: Maximum Render Size?
Looks like I'm going to have to retract my earlier post.
The test render file exported to jpeg at 9000p with aa off.
I tried a recent model, 12meg, also went fine at 9000p aa off.

RE: Maximum Render Size?
I too have this problem usualy around 8000px.
Seems to be a version 6 (and all it's updates) problem?
Appears to me that Google is ignoring the problem?

RE: Model to web
Al,
Thanks for the info.
I agree with item C.
As well as the thought behind using Adobe.
The file size limit kinda scares me, but at this point it's only 7 meg, so not sure what will happen by the time I'm finished? Oh, just thought of a way to get the file size down, delete the countour lines, as all I need is the topo (I'll rename the file just in case).
I think I'm going to try the trial version and inform my client about these issues and let them see a sample.
The other option is for static images with mouse over "zoom" for some key features of the site.
Thanks again to everyone for the help.
Glenn
update: purging the contour lines cut 3mg off the file size. I have some 2d property & road lines to purge after I'm finished with the drape.
So, the 3d pdf is looking viable again. -
RE: Model to web
Thanks for posting the links to your work. It appears I was wrong about the size limit of the free version.
Any idea of the size of your model, and the size of the pdf?
The topo I'm working on is already HUGE.

RE: Model to web
Thanks for the information.
Gaieus, from the samples on RPS website, it looks like the free version tags the model with a message "...created with free version.." or something to that effect.
I'm thinking in order to allow as many viewers (potential property buyers) as possible look at the 3d model on my clients website, RPS 3d pdf might be the best bet.Does anyone here have experience with RPS 3d PDF?
Is there a ratio or relationship between model size & 3d pdf file size?
Thanks,
Glenn
I played round with some samples on RPS site. Appears that the free version makes smaller image than the pay.
I'm thinking this might have some good use with other clients for design/model review. -
Model to web
I’m working on a site model for a client, and they asked if I could make a version to put on their website so potential buyers could zoom, etc.
I looked into RPS 3d PDF, at $189 it‘s kinda costly for a one hit.Can anyone suggest other ways to do this?
Thanks in advance,

RE: So what's in 6.4.112?
I agree, I'm not happy with a forced update.
I like to decide when /if I upgrade.

RE: STOP whatever you're doing button!
There are probably some actions that can’t or shouldn’t be interrupted until they are complete. For instance, reading a file/array could be stopped anytime. Writing or updating might cause bad things (I’m speaking from an experience years ago when I aborted a duplicate & move and lost half day of work). Perhaps some flag could be set to check for user input at various times? Say if it’s a large file, check for key press 2 or 3 times (spread out) over the size of the file? Then give the user the option to continue or return to state before process start?
I haven’t written code in a while (I was using fortran, that should put a time frame) I‘m not sure how it would currently workout? So I’m interested in any comments.

RE: Fabric roof
Amazing.....thanks for the model.
How do you go about making the (edge) curves used to define the fabric?
My skin/fabric keeps violating the poles.
Thanks,

RE: Math or Paste in the VCB
I agree math functions in the vcb would be great. Another design program I use has it, comes in real handy.

RE: Curved text
I really need to learn how to read....or at least slow down while I"m reading.
I missed the second idea from TIG.
I hadn't thought about that. I'm always lookin' for the easy one click to get what I wantThanks again,

RE: Curved text
Thanks for the quick replies.
If I wasn't clear, the surface is flat, I want the letters to follow a curve/arch.
I made it in PS & import as an image.
Thanks again,

Curved text
I need to add a sign to a retail center I"m designing.
How do I make the text follow a curve?
It's flat on the wall with the letters following an arc?
Is this possible with 3d text?
I thought about doing it in PS then importing png?
Thanks,
Glennglenn
