    • RE: Vray - After Effects - camera tracking

      hi!

thanks for the advice. I know it´s easier possible that way, since c4d is designed for that.

It´s just that i am more or less trying to test out sketchup for all it can do (+plugins) and where the restrictions really lie.

In the end i maybe have to do it the c4d-way, but first i would like to test it with sketchup+vray.

      cheers

    • Vray - After Effects - camera tracking

      Hey Guys!

I got a request to do a product video, where i will use a flythrough a room and blinking screens and "glowing data packets" going trhough pipes.

All this want to do in Vray + Sketchup + After Effects, hahaha!

I thought of a workflow like this:

Set up skp-scene and camera path
      Render Video in Vray
Import in After Effects and use camera 3D tracking to find all my objects in the room i want to use.
make all the blinking, glowing etc with after effects masks, paths etc.

Is this a workflow you would say yes to?

I came up with this workflow because i think that:

      1. skp doesnt allow object moving animations
      2. vray is not able to render my whole room into a 3d-file i can import in after effects!? what would be actually awesome.
      3. which other way would there be to tell after effects where i want my animations to be placed?

Any suggestions on this topic? easier ways to do it?
And one other question: How would i bring a moving slhouette to the film? 😄

Here is a mockup video of my flythrough:

      Thanks in advance guys!

    • RE: 3D WebGL only my own buildings

hey. not really. this is more or less the same thing sketchfab and all the others do (pretty nice work on the mesh and axis view btw).

I would like to switch between different models in the viewer itself and if possible have all the google earth surroundings with it (for example) as well as information where on earth i am. more or less like a google earth portfolio viewer. it´s hard to explain.

    • 3D WebGL only my own buildings

      Hey Guys!

Since years i am wondering and searching for a possibility to show outcomes of design workshops in WebGL 3D.

Here´s the point. In a design workshop 15 people are designing a building for the same location. If you load them up to google earth you can see them in it´s place and click through them.
But 1) Google Earth needs to be installed 2) you can only see the outside 3) bad quality

Is there any possibility to have something more easy intuitive to show the student works? I was already thinking about sth like Layars.

Second thing is i want to show my own portfolio with all the buildings i made in 3D distributed around the world with the surrounding 3D-Buildings/mountains/etc. and just let the user cycle trough them and jump there.

Any way this stuff is achievable?

      cheers

    • Enhance viewport quality

      Hey Guys!

I´m wondering if it´s somehow possible to enhance the viewport quality of sketchup?
Something like Styles do (for example sketchy edges), but realtime and not only when you stop orbiting.

I tried Lightup, which does more or less what i want, but is much too slow to work with.

I don´t need big enhancement, but a little bit would be just fine.

The thing is, that i want to use "edddison for sketchup".
      http://extensions.sketchup.com/de/content/edddison

This Plugin works really nicely, but uses the viewport, so as you can imagine the "quality" is drafting style.

      Anybody some ideas?

      Thanks in Advance
      Ben

    • Enhance viewport quality

      Hi!

I hope this question wasn´t asked too often already. I am searching for a way to enhance the realtime "render" quality of the sketchup viewport itself. it doesnt have to be much.

For example if i apply a edgy lines-style it renders only as long as i don´t move around. Is there a possibility to have a better quality all the time?

I tried Lightup for Sketchup, but its much too slow to work with.

The reason i am asking this, that i would like to use edddison plugin in the future: http://edddison.com/products/edddison-sketchup/

But it would be so much cooler if the viewport quality would be better....

    • Project one surface on multiple groups projected

      Hi!

      i have a quick question.

As you can see in the image i have a surface with a texture and behind i have 3 groups. Now i would like to project the texture on these surfaces in the back, but really project it normal. to make something like the artist felice varini (bit.ly/RYgrIt).

And since my real model exists of a lot of different groups and components...

If sketchup cant do it, which program can? 😄

i need it to make a rendering, the workshop ends tomorrow.

thanks in advance! btw, skp8 pro is installed
