It all depends on how the plugin author chooses to do business. If they let Trimble handle the sales then currently Trimble doesn't work with paypal, just credit cards.

Other plugin authors who have their plugins on Extension Warehowse handle their own payment strategy. Often they do use paypal.

I have 2 plugins that are available from Sketchucation's Plugin Store and also from Trimble's Extension Warehouse. My strategy is I give you a free trial period and then if you want to purchase a license you go to my website and use paypal.

Other important things are what kind of a license - subscription, perpetual, major version upgrades etc. How many computers can you install the plugin on? etc. etc.

Plugin author's may allow you to send a money order etc. Send them a PM (personal message) and ask.

My client wants to be able to stop the process. I've got him copying a file named stop.txt into a folder. I check it every loop. Works great.

We have a script that will take quite a while to run.
What is the generally accepted way to stop the script in the middle of processing?

Can I add a menu option that sets a variable? Or will sketchup run a second script while still running the first one?

I suppose I can throw a dummy sentinel (trigger) file into a location and check for the existance of the file at the end of each loop.

In this case each loop will take 10 to 20 seconds and we have 50 thousand loops.

Why do you say always create geometry on Layer0? For various types of solutions I often create geometry on other layers and have never run into any problems.

It can help to turn on / off visibility for a bunch of layers at the same time. I mostly use Layer0 as a temporary layer and then move the geometry where I want it.

We always measure from the tip of the nosing vertically to the top of the handrail. Commercial stairs would have a minimum stair rail height of 36" and residential would have a minimum stair rail height of 32".

Where we built stairs we had a minimum and a maximum rail height. Maximums were 4" + minimums.

Depending upon the run at the center of the handrail, we try to maintain the widest allowable spacing.
In many parts of North America a ball of a diameter of 100 mm (Canada) or 4" (USA) can not pass through the spindles. Has to do with the size of a very young child's head.

For circular stairs we will play around with patterns like 1,2,1,2 for tight radius or 2,3,2,3 for outside radius (where the value is the number of spindles (ballusters) on each tread). So it isn't always a matter of putting the same number of spindles on each tread.

Sometimes we need to adjust the placement of the larger post at the bottom of the treads.

I work with millimeters and imperial and I don't round.

When I work in imperial I would cut a 4" nailer
When I work in metric it would be a 100mm nailer

I will check the thickness of panels and adjust them to 1 decimal in mm.
I keep imperial and metric standards.

1. Allow SU to reference external objects in other files, skp skm etc. If you are building relatively small DC's that have lots of materials and textures file size goes up in a hurry. So say if the collection of DC's number 40 then the project size gets very large. I looked into 1 DC that almost brought my computer down to its knees. The basic geometry wasn't huge but when you added in all the hardware choices and textures the file size was over 150 MB.

I would rather wait a little longer for the the DC to change out materials / components, rather than try to load everything.

2. Fix the tool bars and buttons. When I run into parsing issues while creating / editing a plugin some of my tool bars get moved around.

3. store true radius's so dwg exports will work properly. This would also simplify other types of exports.

I concur, I have a passage door that opens and closes. It is panel raised and can have up to a dozen panels. If I use a Schlage handle drawn professionally it works fine. I found another door handle (needs 2 per door) which is round and has way too many facets. It's motion is rather jagged.

This script creates a simple plugin that traverses your model and creates a csv file

Turns out it's a stdcall which has no mangling.

I can debug the c extension in CBuilder. Very fast.
Now I need to experiment with arguments etc. That will be the acid test for stdcall
If anyone is interested I can post the files and the steps.

Once I get a real good handle on this I'll try it out with XE7 which is a compiler that compiles Win32, Win64 and OSX.

I will also test this on my lap top where Borland memory manager (a dll) doesn't exist. It will tell me if I need to include any of these files or not.

I have a good start on SUEX_HelloWorld using C++Builder 6

I've added cbuilder folder at the same level as the i386-mswin32_100 folder. Then I added a ruby folder and copied over the config.h files. Then I've edited the config files. I'm happy to say that I didn't have to edit any other 3rd party file.

Then I ran implib.exe -a msvcrt-ruby200.lib msvcrt-ruby200.dll and created Borland's flavor of each lib file.
After that I set up a couple of include file paths and added msvcrt-ruby200.lib to the probject.
Turned off precompiled headers and unchecked use dynamic rtl

I now have it compiling - but currently just for the win32 flavor for SU 2014
Now for a bit of testing.

Hopefully I'm on the right path. I'm pretty sure I need to export the function as cdecl for this to work.
