Round Corners plugin)

RE: Sketchup Make Questions
Of course you can share the output freely. "Sell, rent, lease or lend" means for profit; money or other exchange of goods. So if you are a spaceship designer and wish to boast with your renders in the gallery section, please, continue doing so.

Drag and Drop of a picture or a sketchup file from the windows explorer to SU2013 doesn't work any more. With Sketchup 8 it works fine. Did i miss something?
I've set SU to "always run as admin" but still does not work for me. Win 8 and SU 2013 (Pro).
I guess I need to play around more...

No-one cares about Pro here (apart from being able to edit DC functions) but indeed joining the forums must have been a major step.

RE: Hello! Newbie saying hi and maybe a little advice
Hi Neil and first of all, welcome!
Second: your profile says SU 2013 but your screenshots are from SU 8. Please, keep your profile up to date which makes it easier to help.
Third (and Box beat me with this): get used to modelling clean. I do not know about your falcon (pretty nice for a newbie though) but your in second screenshot, there are blue (back) faces outside. Select them, right click and "Reverse faces". You will regret this kind of modelling once you start getting into rendering.

Is there a plugin to make a geometry completely solid?
Hi Jeff,
Though this tool will not make things "solid" in the way it is used with the "Solid tools", if you only need a "cap" for your cut model for viewing purposes, use this tool:

RE: Nyomtatás mérete?
Nálam még rosszabb a helyzet: 20 oldalra akarja nyomtatni. Próbálkozom LayOutba exportálni és onnan kinyomtatni, de egyelőre onnan meg üres lapok jönnek. Meg kell mondjam, ez a kép így beillesztve nem a legalkalmasabb vagy ideális dolog. Nem tudnád kihúzni a vonalakat SketchUpban legalább?

RE: List of dynamic component commands?
Try this one (and the related stuff on the right):
http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/108144They are setting up the new site and (hopefully) will get all the old links to redirect to the respective new links eventually. Otherwise many years of hard forum work will be outdated and links broken.
The tip is to copy the ID (the numbers) from the end of old links to the end of the new ones.

RE: Sketchup 2013 issues
Circus, it should definitely have those export/import functions. Have you tried reinstalling it?

RE: [Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24
Try to run SketchUp as Administrator. Also, please, update your profile. I am just guessing that you need to do this and not using Windows XP for instance.

Out of curiosity I downloaded and installed Sketchup Make. On running it there is a message says I can have 8 hours of usage and that amount decreases while the software is in use.
I'm not sure if that means after using it for 8 hours it stops working entirely... or just some portion of it stops working... or they're just pullin my leg, that I can continue to use it but am constrained by the EULA as to what I can do with it.
Which is it?
A freshly installed SU Make is also a Pro Trial (you must have got LayOuzt and Style Builder, too). When it expires, it will revert back to the functionalities of the free software.

Second question, it is pretty obvious that Trimble's EULA requires commercial use to be done w/ the Pro version... having spent real money to buy SU I can understand that they want real money in return whenever they can. My question is about non-commercial use: If I understand them correctly they're saying, essentially, that no vertices and UV coordinates originally placed in SU Make can be made available to anyone else under any circumstances. No export to another format for 3d printing by a service bureau, for freeware game content when played by others, not even a printed page handed to your wife, nothing. Rather constraining. OR, alternatively, are they saying the SU Make user cannot make available to anyone else by any means any .skp file produced by SU Make? Or something in between that can only be guessed at?
Anyone know which interpretation is correct?
Not, this is not correct - but what Jeff says: you cannot use it for making money. That simple. If this was the case, they should also only allow uploading (read: sharing) models to the warehouse from the Pro version, right? Or completely disable printing or exporting stills and animation.

I am using SU 2013 education and I can not export anything and I have only a few selection to import? Is this a issue with 2013 or is it a part of the new license? My previous education licenses would let me export and import DWGs.
P.
An edu license should work exactly like a full pro license (the only difference is that it's time limited for an academic year). Have you actually renewed your license for 2013? It should be free for edu license holders (AFAIK).

RE: What exactly does " FOR NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY" mean?
@unknownuser said:
i'm going to go out on a limb here and hazard a guess but i don't necessarily think trimble is 'out to get' the sole graphic artist that might use a couple of items made in sketchup then brought into illustrator (or whatever) for compositing.. they're probably only a tad more concerned about joe's handyman service using sketchup to layout his framing for a wall repair or deck extension (or whatever)..
i'd guess their main concern (and rightfully so) would be something like a 10 station arch firm which has one or two pro licenses for file import/export while the other 8 people are using suFree.
Most probably this is the case. The "rule" is there but they will probably not going to go after small freelancers and such as it's not worth the effort, time etc.
I remember when the first free version (5) came out this was the case, too. I actually started with that version and only paid for a license when version 6 came out (where actually this rule was lifted) and when I had my first commercial project (also needed fbx - or 3ds? - export).
So it is not about worrying that Trimble-Police will be after those who abuse this new rule but about your own concerns - and maybe other concerns (like in my country we can be checked any time if we use pirated software or software like this with non-commercial clauses if we run a business)

RE: Is there a plug-in available???
Interesting project (although, if you do not get it wrong, I take it a bit paranoiac)
Anyway, there are different ways to go around it as was already mentioned above. One way is to make a component and give it a description:
Then, in the component browser, you can always see this description:
Another way is to add a unique "name" to (either) the component (or a group if you wish). This can be seen when selected, in the Entity info box (open it either from the components context menu or the Window menu) -
RE: Nyomtatás mérete?
A nyomtatási beállítások jónak tűnnek, úgyhogy nem tudom, mi lehet a probléma. Tudnád magát az skp fájlt is csatolni?
-
RE: Nyomtatás mérete?
Szia abraxas!
Nem egészen értem a problémát, hiszen a csatolt fájlban a pdf-ben össz 2 oldal van.

RE: Plumbing fixtures hard to see -edges too smooth
In SketchUp, under your Styles settings, edit the edge settings and add a 1px profile. Without this, curved surfaces will not have a visible "outline". Don't forget to update your style (where my cursor is in the screen shot).
Another option is to only import a flattened version of these models and possibly just as schematic outlines into LO. Now there you can turn vector rendering on, explode the model and save it as a Scrapbook item. Then from then on, you can easily insert them into any LO document without having to suffer in SU first.
