Is there a plug-in available???

I am quite new to sketch-up and am in the process of designing my house, (interior and exterior) on Sketch up (Free Version 8). The purpose of my project is to design an exact (as far as I can) replica of my house and contents as a home inventory for insurance purposes and to keep a general log of key information such as model numbers, warranties etc.....
Is there a free plug-in I can download to allow me to hover over an object in the house and it shows you information such as purchase date, receipt, and an actual thumbnail picture of the item???
Thanks

I didn't try it, but you can have a look at GoSu...

Built into the system you can name components and groups. further than that, you can create dynamic components (Might still be Pro only not sure) which have properties that you declare and even write. These two features should allow you to inventory your home and name items and then keep records about them with things like purchase price, model number, serial number, depreciation, etc.
I would garner a wager that if you made these blank dynamic components, with these variables, that others would also like to have them to use for the very same reason; even companies might want this done as a service.
The only thing I have that is worth anything to me is my PC and it's chained to my leg...
I might also add that .jpg's can be brought into SketchUp and used as materials or just as a grouped object. This would be handy for you to store scanned copies of the item's receipt or pertinent documentation.

Interesting project (although, if you do not get it wrong, I take it a bit paranoiac)
Anyway, there are different ways to go around it as was already mentioned above. One way is to make a component and give it a description:
Then, in the component browser, you can always see this description:
Another way is to add a unique "name" to (either) the component (or a group if you wish). This can be seen when selected, in the Entity info box (open it either from the components context menu or the Window menu) -
You can also use this tool
And if you put all the texts on a same Layer, you can Hide / Show all Texts in one click !
For select all texts in one click, use the plugin Selection Toy by Thomthom
(Select all : CTRL + A (for pc), Right Click / Select Only Text)
So can easily put all texts on a same Layer -
Wow...thanks for the quick responses. Unfortunately my appreciation was a little delayed due to work commitments.
It's not really paranoia.... I like to be organised and my house, garden in fact most area's of my life I like to be straightforward and compartmentalised. I have this vision of creating an exact replica of my house and garden, (which I spend 15 minutes a night creating on sketchup and is coming along quite nicely) and then adding information succinctly with visuals of the actual object to include details such as;
- hyperlinks to user manuals
- warranty info
- serial numbers
- servicing dates
I even plan to extend into the garden and name individual plants with details such as when to prune etc...
That way everything is in one place....
Thanks again for your comments...I have not yet seen the solution from your responses but I am sure there is such a thing out there.
Keep the suggestions coming
David
