      I'll take a look at TGI3D, it looks like a great plugin?
      I have searched google and tried a few things in Max but it hasn't been successful yet.

      The tgi3d upsample feature is what i use as my final plugin before printing. Sometimes it makes the model look odd.
      But 95% of the time it works perfectly and is worth the money. Comes with many other plugins then just upsample. Create mesh
      being my favourite. Oh and the bend feature is superb too. The UV tool is cool but i got used to artisan.

      Tgi3d plugin + Artisan = Must have

      PC for desktop, Mac and Asus with extended warranty for Laptop.

      Most software is designed around Windows. You can boot windows on a Mac, so the issue is preference and cost.

    • RE: What does SU mean to you?

      In the mid 1990's. i had tried rhino3d and bryce. Got bored quick. While I was at Uni , I smoked alot of pot. My housemate, an arch student
      showed me SU. It was fun to smoke and draw. SU became a hobby, not the smoking, but the drawing.

    • RE: Tubes of varying diameter

      You can try this as well.

      First make sure the centre of both pipes are aligned. Design the two pipes as you see fit.

      pipe1.jpg

      Then add the line,geometry,curve,etc to create a flat surface.

      pipe2.jpg

      pipe3.jpg

      Then select the line of the outer circle and press follow me . Click on the surface highlighted in pic 3 above with the follow me tool
      and presto, you get the shape and design you desire.

      pipe4.jpg

      You may use the upsample plugin to get high final geometry

      Mason is a bigger pain.
      Using TGI and Artisan UV spraying helps. Including SU texture alignment option.

    • RE: Nvidea 560 ti

      The reason for going i7 is that other then what has been stated above is that you can

      1)Run intel extreme overclocking utility to get the turbo boost to run to 4+ ghz air cooled on single core use.

      2)Plugins can be , as confirmed by plugin programmers on the forum made to run on two cores. Only seen this on TGI plugins.

      3)Run 2 sessions of SU seamlessly with other background programs running.

    • RE: Nvidea 560 ti

      560ti is already an overkill. I use 460gtx and thats an overkill. SU uses Opengl and is not highly optimised. The only reason to get a super 6 core i7 cpu is for vray for sketchup. otherwise a dual core is more then enuf for SU.

      @deanlegg said:

      Hi all

      Anyone recommend a good chair while designing , mine makes me hunch my back I seem to try and get in the screen
      Are blow up gym balls any good?

      Thanks dean

      Hand to elbow straight.
      Arm at 90 degrees.
      Top 3/4 of the LCd should be at the eye level.
      Memorize shortcuts without looking at keyboard.
      Get a good mouse with many buttons on it so you can assign it for shortcuts.
      Chair should have good back support and legs should not be dangling from chair. 90 degrees is best.

      If you are getting lower back pain, then ball is good. upper back then the tips above will help. Never tried that chair , looks interesting but his position is all wrong. You shouldnt be looking that down. Oh, and pls for the love of good try to refrain from using a laptop for drawing ,etc. Get an adjustable height CAD LCD screen.

      I am not really sure what to make of this.

      You didn't really explain what you where talking about until towards the end of the thread... Helps to start of with the actual topic.
      Regardless, there's a loooong thread here on the topic: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=44881

      @fuzzion said:

      1. What will happen to Vray for sketchup.

      Devin said that they see no reason for much to change. They will keep working on VfSU.

      @fuzzion said:

      1. Are there plans to continue the plugin scheme.

      Appears so. Their announcement said they want to continue with SketchUp as a platform. So I think/hope it might in fact make it better.

      @fuzzion said:

      3)Does Trimble plan to improve on Sketchup or use newly acquired IP
      rights to start a new software?

      Don't think they'll start a completely new software. (Depends on what you mean by n"new" (complete rewrite?))
      If they'll change the SketchUp package? Who knows... The SketchUp team has said that SketchUp will be SketchUp.

      Have a look at the thread I linked to. Any information out there on the topic will be referred to there.

      ๐Ÿ‘ Thanks for the input

      Limitations stem more from SU than your video card. But with that said, do not
