Kmz to skp (or 3ds)
i really need to extract the geometry from a KMZ file i have, i tried Vivality studio but for some reason it breaks the geometry up, only leaving the roofs of the buildings, turning the kmz file into a zip file only provides a kml file, so no .dae file, anyone know of a method or technique or pluggin to convert KMZ files, ive searched far and wide (without leaving my seat).
i wouldnt be too bleak if someone was willing to convert it for me

RE: [Plugin] Mirror UV Mapping (1.0.3)
woah thats wierd, it refuses to mirror on a mesh ive imported, but works fine on a quick separate test... can i send you the problem mesh?

RE: [Plugin] Mirror UV Mapping (1.0.3)
thomthom have u looked into the texture mirroring to the backfaces of triangles? is it possible?

RE: [Plugin] RotaScale
beautiful, thank you, now it works great, i dont see a need for improvement

RE: [Plugin] RotaScale
wow thom thanks for working on this i really appreciate it!!

is this something I cant do by using first the rotation tool and then the scale tool?
its way more than that, the point is also to control the point a group will scale from, rather than just the centre or the corners, it makes lining/scaling reference material up to a model (or vise versa) really quick, so it squashes rotate scale and move into one.
thom just looked at the ruby, i works perfect, better than what i had asked for actually, i frikken love it
i cant tell you how long ive wanted this, thank you.
oops first problem
... it seems you HAVE to rotate, if the first line is on an axis then it wont let u place the second point along the same axis

RE: [Plugin] Extended Views v1.2 UPDATE May 23, 2013

RE: [REQ] New Rotate Tool = Rota-Scale?
its exactly like the rotate tool but with sale added, i'll reword the top post

RE: [REQ] New Rotate Tool = Rota-Scale?
hi chris, no the 2 anchor points (base and target) would be sitting on top of each other, also i wouldnt want the second object to be considered, merely its snapping point ie no: select object, select target. its more of a rotate with scale, exactly like the relationship between the green and red pushpin in the texture position feature

[REQ] New Rotate Tool = Rota-Scale?
this is my new dream plugin request, it works exactly like the Rotate tool but scales
exactly like the relationship between the red and green pushpin in the texture positioning feature, where u can move the red "origin" pushpin to define a new point about scaling/rotation
can anyone help?
ps. i do know the technique of scaling with the -
RE: [Plugin] UV Toolkit
thomthom im sooo glad some ones finally working on mapping, found something yesterday in max that i thought was a cool feature, spline mapping - when u have a curved geometry, draw a slpine along a edge and use the spline to define the UV of the curb, so ur texture runs along the face would be awesome to see that in the future for Sketchup (regardless of how distant) good work so far

RE: Bush Lodge - Vray - updated
wow thanks, i also see it as a painting/rendering mix type thing, Mike Lucey has contacted me about a tutorial which i hope to have time for, so i do intend on sharing my methods. thanks again for the kind words

RE: [Plugin] Very fast texture writer
thank you for this very useful, and to takesh h for making it available through plugins dropdown - i hate the ruby consol

RE: Bush Lodge - Vray - updated
the model took 3 days cos i was faffing with textures, and the Photoshopping for both took another day, maybe less coss i finished the first one the same evening i finished rendering, then finished the second render the following morning, it really is quick.

RE: Bush Lodge - Vray - updated
those are the same renders, same front and rear, same angles, same building
i think i understand ur problem, the Lodge has 2 roofs in an L shape, the views dont show both, the client specified view angles

i want to stop using sketchup altogether
Why?
Wild guess: texturing, poly count etc.
etc etc etc... learn ANY other modeler, that should answere the question, still love sketchup though...

DzineTech
i think your gonna need to draw us a diagram or something cos i didnt alter any structure via photoshop and those are the raw renders for the ones on the first post (plaster wall inset on the back stone wall is the only difference).Richard
these are the only bushveld type renders for the series, the rest are generally tuscanand contemporary, i'll do a mega post once their done, there are 25 houses of them with 2 renders each (but i dont like a lot of em so it might not be that much)
